Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A walk, a friend, nice weather, a good book makes a nice day.

I enjoyed my little earlier than usual walk this morning. It was pretty dark when I started out. I got a new battery for my pedometer the other day and I have been tweaking it a bit to get it accurate and this morning I finally got that accomplished. I walked 6.5 miles. I made a list of things to do today but put them all on hold when I got a call from Cheryl. She came over and we went over to the mill and looked around in a couple of stores and had lunch at Ram's Head sitting outside on the patio. As always we enjoyed our time together and I am so glad that we have become friends. I got James' sunflower seeds mailed off this afternoon and he should have them in a couple of days. The weather started off hot and humid this morning and as the day went on it got cooler and nicer. All my windows are open with fresh air blowing in. I just came back inside from sitting on the front porch reading and watching people and cars go by. I've finished reading a couple of books.
The Assassins by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins. It is the 6th book in the Left Behind series.
The first few books of this series was good but the more books I read the more drawn out they are. I think there are 10 books in all and I will read them all but it seems the story sure could have been condensed a lot more.
The other book I've read is called Memories of a Lost Egypt by Colette Rossant.
It's a small book with only 128 pages in it and it's about Colette telling her memories of when she was a little girl living in Egypt with her grandparents with her mother coming in and out of her life. Colette's passion is food and the book is all about her favorite foods and has many recipes in it. I enjoyed the book and would like to read more of her books. Hope your Monday was a happy one!

James is spending the day with us on Friday. Having you send the seed for giant sunflowers is so exciting to him. He spend a full 10 minutes telling Baby Hooper all about how "the lady with the giant sunflowers" is sending him some special seed. His dad is going to take him more seriously next summer. We didn't believe he'd be interested in the plants he had for more than a week or two. Boy, were we wrong. This child had to "care for his garden" every day - sometimes twice.

You really, really deserve a star in your crown for making this little fellow so happy.

I thought of you and your six-mile walks on our one-mile-maybe jaunt through the cemetery. ;D

That last book sounds very intriguing. I'll have to see if I can find it at the library or request it.

I'm trying to get out and walk more. It really helps my bad back, but I doubt if I'll ever be able to do 6.5 miles. That's really a good distance!

We had a very cool night last night. And there's a hint of Fall in the air today. Love it!

How long does it take to walk 6.5 miles?

I was so sore when I woke up from yesterday's swim. I only walked a mile or so today. I'm ready for bed, but so far behind in blog reading that I can't go to bed. Yet.

Next time I'll take you out and I'll try something different. My leftover fish taco was so delicious tonight!

That sounds like a good day.

Thanks for your recent visit. I hope your emotional rollercoaster stabilizes soon. It isn't easy, is it?

So glad you have returned to blogging.
