It was 60 degrees and cloudy this morning when I walked.  I walked around the two cemeteries and the loop behind the ball park and then around town.

Saw a few rabbits, lots of goldfinches and robins and a deer.

Passed by Janet and we said hi and good morning as she was getting into her bright yellow school bus to start her route.

This caught my eye this morning.  I thought, what a pretty tulip - looks more like a rose.

Enjoyed my morning walk as always. : )  So nice to be outside early in the morning.
I walked 6.1 miles.

The spaghetti dinner at church last night was very good and we had a very nice time.  We had a garden salad, our choice of marinara or meat sauce on the spaghetti, a roll and a few different desserts to choose from.  Sorry, no pictures, just forgot all about taking any.

Ken went up to HT to get some dirt for the raised garden beds and I took some chocolate chip cookies that I baked with me and went to Cherry Hills for a little singing and visiting with the residents there.  Remember the woman who I stayed extra with last week, well this week she accepted Jesus as her Savior. : )  Her name is Victoria. 

This afternoon I'm home doing this and that around the house. 
Ken must be enjoying himself up at Happy Trails because he's still there. : )

Spaghetti Dinner

It was 60 degrees and cloudy on my walk this morning.  It looked a bit like rain but I didn't bother taking my umbrella.  First walked over to the post office to drop a Netlix off in the mail slot.

I walked the Farm Loop and then around one of the cemeteries, around town and then back home.

A rabbit ran out of the woods on one side ran across the street and right back in the woods on the other side.  I saw some cows in the field where #29 lives but they were far away and weren't looking in my direction so I didn't get a picture.  Maybe tomorrow. There were only 4 - two big ones and 2 babies.  I haven't seen any cows at all in that field since before winter.  I'm wondering if one of the cows today was #29.

There are a lot of lilac bushes around town and just about everyone has some in their yard and I can smell them just walking down the street.  I never realized it came in other colors.  Just knew about the light purple color.  Now I know it comes in a dark purple and white too.  It seems like the darker the color the stronger the smell.

Some really huge rain drops fell and I thought I was in for a real drenching but then after 5 seconds it stopped.

I walked 6.5 miles.
Found a penny. : )

The cabinets were getting a bit low on food so we made a trip out to Walmart to get some shopping done.  Ken and I usually walk around shopping together but we did things differently this time.  I went to the food section with the list and Ken walked around getting the non food things we needed.  I enjoyed doing the food shopping on my own.   I like to go up and down all the aisles and I stick to the list.  I also like to put the items in the cart in a certain way.
Ken did pop up a few times to put something in the cart not on the list. : )

I took a walk over to the library this afternoon to pick up a book that was on hold.  The book is King's Mountain bu Sharyn McCrumb and it is the book selection for my book club in July.  I also have the June book selection but have yet to read it.

Remember last month when I mentioned that church members were handing out tracts and there were teams.  We were seeing which team handed out the most.  The losing team had to cook dinner for the winners.  Well, we were on the winning team and tonight we are getting a spaghetti dinner. : ) By the way - all totaled both teams handed out 27,028.

Raised Garden Beds

Farm up towards Happy Trails

This morning there was a mix of sun and clouds and the temperature was 40 degrees.  I made a few stops along the way.  First to drop off a library book in the book drop, then dropped off the water bill in the slot and lastly dropped some mail in the mail slot at the post office.  Then I headed out toward Happy Trails.  I walked a little more that half way there until I came to the house with all the dogs and then turned around and headed back to town.

I walked around the two cemeteries and at one of them I walked around looking at some of the gravestones.  This is the oldest one I found that I could read.

 This is a new one that was made because you can hardly read the old one now.  How sad that he was just a baby.

Walked around town a little bit too and then headed home.  I saw one person walking a dog and that was it.  I didn't see any animals but that could be because I walked a good way on the main road.

I walked 6.2 miles.

After breakfast we both went outside and spent the whole day out in the yard.
I weeded, raked grass,  pulled up more of the ornamental grass and planted some petunia seeds in a planter box.  

Ken worked on the raised planter beds and left a couple of times to go up to Happy Trails for something he needed.  He made the first one alone but the second I helped and it got done much faster with both of us working on it.  Now we just have to fill them with dirt and plant the herbs.  If these work well this year, there is room for 3 more for next year.  Hopefully this will keep the rabbits and other animals from eating the plants.  It will be nice working up off the ground too.

 It will be nice sitting around this evening relaxing after working hard.

Only 34 degrees this morning (35 yesterday) and a bit of frost in places but the sun was out and there was no wind.  34 seems a lot warmer in May than it does in January. : ) 

I walked the Farm Loop and saw quite a few animals around this morning.  Three deer crossed the street in front of me and later I got a picture of another one.

A few rabbits were around as well.  This one was a big guy.

This farm is just outside of town. Here mom is checking on one of her babies.  Can you spot the red winged black bird perched on the old corn stalk?

I walked around town a bit too.  Didn't see any people and it seemed extra quiet for a Monday morning.  It was still in the 30's when I got home but moving on up.

Had breakfast and did my morning routine.  Hung the sheets out on the line to dry and then we went to Lowe's and bought the wood for Ken to build the raised garden beds.  I think the last of the frost is gone and I'll be able to plant my herbs outside now.

The weather warmed up nicely to the mid 60's and the sun was out too in a beautiful blue sky.

This afternoon Ken went up to HT to the wood shop to start on the raised garden beds.  He's making two of them to start.

I stayed home and mowed the lawn.  You should see me on my mower now. : )  I can turn that thing around on a dime and I zoom around the yard and have it mowed in no time. 
When that was done I dug up six ornamental grasses that were just starting and threw them away.  Just too many of those things around the yard.  I have an off shoot from my neighbors lilac bush and planted that and also six yellow marigolds in their place.

I saw a couple of hummingbirds so hung up the hummingbird feeder on the front porch.  I'll be able to watch them from the picture window. In the picture below of the birds nest you can see it hanging in the reflection in the window.  Also me taking the picture.

I climbed up on the step stool out by the front door with my camera to get a picture inside the robins nest.  I can't see anything until I take the picture because it is high up at the top of the porch.

I was happy to see three perfect little blue eggs sitting there in the nest.

That's been my day so far.
