Another day at home

The rain was gone this morning and I had a sunny and cold morning to walk.  It was 30 degrees.

I walked the farm loop, the two cemeteries and the loop behind the ball park.  That is my main route and the one I walk most often.

I saw a lot of crows.  They are hard to get close enough to take pictures of because they fly away as soon as they see me.  Lots of geese still around too on the little pond down by the Drane house.  I didn't walk down there today but I could see them all from the road by the school.

A quiet morning - didn't see anyone else out.

I walked 6.4 miles - 12,614 steps.

I washed the big picture window in the library.  The sun was shining in which made it look all streaky.  I washed it when the sun wasn't there any more.  After washing it, you can hardly tell a window is there.  I'll have to see how good a job I've done tomorrow morning when the sun is shining in again. : )

Ken went up to Happy Trails after lunch.  I though about going too but then decided to stay home.
I spent most of the afternoon doing my counted cross stitch so I had a nice relaxing afternoon.

Tonight was a quick and easy supper of hot dogs and baked beans.
We enjoyed our last piece of cheese cake last evening, so tonight it's back to ice cream.

Nellie - Rain boots would be nice but I need my walking shoes for my walks.  Those pretty rain boots just don't make it for long walks.  I've been thinking about seeing if I could find some rubbers.  Remember those things that just slipped on over your shoes?  They would work. I wonder if they even make them anymore.

A rainy inside day

A rainy morning walk for me today.  I still haven't bought a new pair of rain pants and it was pouring out so I wore Ken's rain pants.  They are a bit big but they have a draw string, so I just hiked them up practically under my arm pits and I was good to go.  I wore my yellow rain slicker and stayed pretty dry except for my feet.  It was 50 degrees so I didn't have to worry about being cold though it was pretty windy at times.  Sometimes I just take an umbrella but when it's windy I need my rain gear on.  It was nice listening to the rain on my hood, a different sound from the umbrella.

I walked around town and didn't see any one else out.  I did see a rabbit out in the rain though.  The horses don't seem to mind the rain either and Lone Chicken was staying dry under a tin roof over her coop.

I walked 6 miles - 11,730 steps.

It seemed like a good day for pancakes so I made them for our breakfast.

Stayed at home all day.  Finished cleaning and then read.  My book club meets next week so thought I'd better finish the book for it.  It has gotten a little better and I will read it but if not for the book club I wouldn't finish it.  I'm just about half finished with it.

It rained all day until around 4:45 when the clouds started to break up and I could see just a little blue sky.  Then not long after the sun went away for the night.  I took this picture standing on the front porch.  The temperature has gone down all day and it is now 35.

Kenny cooked supper tonight.  He made us sausage and peppers, one of my favorite meals.  It's his Dad's recipe and he often made it for me knowing it was my favorite.  I surly do miss my father in law and not just for his great cooking!!

There's just two more pieces of that cheesecake left and after tonight there won't be any left at all.  : )

A sunny warm day

It was a balmy 40 degrees this morning.  The sun came out, there were no clouds and there was a slight breeze.  I wore too many layers and was quite warm.

I walked the usual farm route and around the two cemeteries in town.
Lots of geese flying around again and passed by all my usual animal friends.  All seem well and I talked to all of them .: )

This big blue building (barn?) has been for sale for as long as I've been walking past here.  It is near the road and there is one house a little bit farther down the road though the house and barn aren't the same property.  Farmer George's farm surrounds both properties.  Don't even know why I posted this, it just interests me and I wonder who would buy it. 

So nice out this morning and thankful that I have such great places to walk.

Since it was a nice sunny day and an unbelievable 62 degrees, I went outside and planted 70 bulbs (tulips and daffodils) out in front of the house.  Don't know how many more opportunities I'll get to do that before winter.  I don't have too much luck with bulbs.  Last year at the old house none that I planted came up.

The wind kicked up during the day and with it some clouds that flew across the sky.  After planting the bulbs I sat in my swing and watched them for awhile.  I took the picture sitting on the swing.  The green grass that you can see in the distance right under the trees on the mountain in the middle of the picture runs along the road I walk in the morning and is part of the farm loop.

I cleaned and rearranged the library a bit. Just moved the chairs from in front of the windows to the other side of the room by the bookcases.  And moved the rocking chairs away from the bookcases to the windows.  Then moved a few little things around.  On the lower bookcase are the banks that I keep the coins I find in.

That's been my day.  Almost time for my snack. I think tonight I'll have a piece of that cheesecake.

Just another day : )

30 degrees this morning. There was a slight breeze and the sun was out.  I walked first to the library and dropped off a couple of books in the book slot and then went to the ATM at the bank.  Made a quick stop back home to drop off the money and then had a random walk around town.
Stopped at the fence down by the Drane house where a couple of horses I know live and saw that there are now three of them.  Sometimes one of them comes over by me when I walk by like today and I let him smell my hand and then pet him. 

At the edge of town there is another farm where the white cow lives.  Haven't petted him yet because he has never come close enough to the fence.  I did take another picture of him though.

I saw a Kingfisher over by the little pond.
Lone Chicken has a strange mixture of food today, french fries, pasta and what looked like sweet potato fries.  

There was a couple taking a walk down the main road in town who I said 'good morning' to and I saw Lisa a couple of times.

Here's another view of the cute little house that I took a picture of the other day.  I'd love to take a look inside of it. 

I walked around the two cemeteries and then headed back home.
And that was the end of my walk.
I walked 6 miles - 11,840 steps.

Got a bit more house cleaning done today but still haven't finished.  I worked on my cross stitch some more late this afternoon before supper.

There's still cheese cake left and I'm not sure whether I want that or ice cream for my snack tonight.  I would LIKE to have  both : ) but I'll just pick one.

A busy day

It was a nice brisk morning for walking.  The coldest morning so far this season with a temperature of just 25 degrees.  I left at 6:30 as the sky was getting light, : ) no wind and the sun was out and I had to laugh because when I got home I thought it must have really warmed up because I was pretty warm and looked at the thermometer and saw that it had only warmed up 3 degrees to 28!!!

I walked the farm loop again.  Didn't see anyone there today but yesterday I met two women who were walking.  There names are Maryanna and Annamarie - almost the same name but in reverse.  Today I saw Maryanna in front of her house scraping the ice off her car!!

Only saw a few of cows but they were up in the field.  Walking in town I passed my lone chicken friend and today she was sitting in the little bit of sun that is in her coop.  She was sitting there so nicely that I took a picture of her.  That's my shadow - I look like a big fluffy something or other!!!

Except for some geese and birds I didn't see any wildlife.  I used to see so much wild life where I used to live when I walked around the lake and at first I was surprised I didn't see a lot here too.  I think the reason must be that there is so much forest around here that they just stay there.  There's no reason to come down into town.  There is not a lot of building going on taking away their homes.
There are lots of deer up at HT along with birds, skunks wild turkeys and though we haven't seen any in person we do have video of bears.  Anyway that's my theory.

I was walking down the road here and when I got in front of the fire station (brick building down there on the left) and the fire siren went off.  Boy that thing is LOUD!!!  A few minutes later I saw the brush fire truck take off and a couple minutes after that the ambulance. 

Walked around town a bit more and then went back home.
I walked 6.4 miles - 12,478 steps.

I had a couple of bananas turning a nice shade of brown so I made some banana/cherry bread with them.  Last time I made this bread I didn't have any cherries so I made it with strawberries instead.  I had the cherries this time and though both breads are good I like the banana/cherry best.  You can see the recipe HERE.

I washed the sheets today and even though it was only 30 degrees I hung them outside on the line anyway.
Ken put up a clothes line down in the basement for me when I can't hang them outside.  When I have some clothes hanging down there, I'll take a picture.

I did some house cleaning before lunch but didn't get all that much done.
After lunch we left for Walmart to do food shopping.  On the way there we stopped at the new Tractor Supply Company that just opened on Saturday.  We have been watching them build it for quite a while now and are happy that it is now open.

When we got back home I did a little more cleaning.
I made meatloaf for supper.  I used a recipe that my blogger friend Deb, at A Day in the Life posted on her blog.  Both Ken and I liked it better than any of my recipes and I plan on making this many times.  It was delicious. Thanks Deb!! : ) 

I'm going to put the recipe on my on line cookbook, but until I do you can get the recipe HERE on Deb's blog.  You might want to check out her blog anyway if you don't already follow her.  Her blog is a happy place and she always finds something to be thankful for no matter what is happening.  It's one of my favorites. : )

I'll be on the computer for a while yet and then I plan on doing a little reading and maybe work on that counted cross stitch a little.
Snack tonight is a piece of cheesecake.
