Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.
~Groucho Marx

This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

A sunny warm day

It was a balmy 40 degrees this morning.  The sun came out, there were no clouds and there was a slight breeze.  I wore too many layers and was quite warm.

I walked the usual farm route and around the two cemeteries in town.
Lots of geese flying around again and passed by all my usual animal friends.  All seem well and I talked to all of them .: )

This big blue building (barn?) has been for sale for as long as I've been walking past here.  It is near the road and there is one house a little bit farther down the road though the house and barn aren't the same property.  Farmer George's farm surrounds both properties.  Don't even know why I posted this, it just interests me and I wonder who would buy it.
So nice out this morning and thankful that I have such great places to walk.
I walked 6.1 miles - 12,041 steps.
Sunrise: 6:52
Sunset: 5:10
Since it was a nice sunny day and an unbelievable 62 degrees, I went outside and planted 70 bulbs (tulips and daffodils) out in front of the house.  Don't know how many more opportunities I'll get to do that before winter.  I don't have too much luck with bulbs.  Last year at the old house none that I planted came up.

The wind kicked up during the day and with it some clouds that flew across the sky.  After planting the bulbs I sat in my swing and watched them for awhile.  I took the picture sitting on the swing.  The green grass that you can see in the distance right under the trees on the mountain in the middle of the picture runs along the road I walk in the morning and is part of the farm loop.
I cleaned and rearranged the library a bit. Just moved the chairs from in front of the windows to the other side of the room by the bookcases.  And moved the rocking chairs away from the bookcases to the windows.  Then moved a few little things around.  On the lower bookcase are the banks that I keep the coins I find in.

That's been my day.  Almost time for my snack. I think tonight I'll have a piece of that cheesecake.
Hope during your day you smiled often.

Kim - I had the ice cream - fudge ripple. : )  Ken had both!

  1. The huge blue barn is very intriguing! I do wonder what it would be used for.

  2. Hi, when you showed the big blue barn I wonder what the new owners will use it for.
Your home looks very nice - I hope you both love your new home.

  3. You do have great places to walk! I have issues with layering, too. I get too warm while walking and chilled when stopping. I just ordered a new jacket and I hope it arrives today, in time for a little trip to the mountains. It should keep me warm on what looks like a cold overnighter. That is my hope, anyway. I hope your flowers pay off in the spring.

You surely have a beautiful and tastefully decorated home! Wow! Art

  4. I love that picture of the blue sky and clouds with the scenic country backdrop. Wow.

  5. You sure do have a lovely area to walk in and I'll bet those farm animals are happy to have such a friendly new neighbor.
I like the little tweaks you made to your library. Looks very inviting.
Darn, I thought for sure it was going to be cheesecake :). Ken sounds like my husband. If there are two desserts available he always chooses a little of both.

  6. Interesting about that blue building. I wonder how it will eventually be used. Of course, someone has to buy it first.:-)

I don't seem to have much luck with bulbs, either. One would think they are foolproof.:-)

Your library looks like a very comfortable place to enjoy a book!

I believe I'd opt for cheesecake, too.:-)

  7. I love the bright blue sky in your second picture! So pretty!!
Your home looks nice and cozy and ready for winter.
