No walk, and a snowy ride to chruch

Didn't make my walk this morning.  I wimped out because of too much ice, snow and wind.  Picture on left is taken out the dining room window. 

I have walked 3 miles down in the basement though.  I put on some Christmas carols and away I went.  I'll do the other 3 miles later on.  I know, I know I'm crazy.  : )

It was another snowy drive to church this week.  Church is just down the road here a few blocks.

On the way home from church we stopped at Brenda's for lunch.  I never get a dessert because I'm always too full.  So today I had dessert for lunch.  It's pastry filled with apples.  I know a bad thing to eat for lunch but it sure was good.

Another snowy day

I walked in the falling snow around the farm loop this morning and around town too.  It was 25 degrees and just a little breezy.  I wore my new rain pants and stayed nice and dry.

It was beautiful, calm, peaceful and the snow makes it seem quieter than usual.  What a joy it is to be able to get out and take a walk.
I didn't see any one else out.  I had the morning beauty all to myself.
I walked 6.2 miles - 12,292 steps.

A nice cozy day at home today.  I had hot chocolate in my new mug and it tasted ever so good.  I added a few marshmallow too. : )

I got some reading done, worked on my counted cross stitch, and finished decorating the tree with tinsel.  Hard to get a good picture because of the glare from the window.

It's been snowing all day with a bit of sleet in there too.  Supposed to turn back to all snow during the night.

I'm off to eat my supper in just a little while.  Ken is making us nachos.  : )

Out with the ladies

Started walking at 7:10 when the sky was aglow.  A windy cold 17 degrees this morning but nice and sunny with a pretty blue sky.  No ice grippers today.  I walked mostly around town again.  With the wind I thought it would be really windy along the open farm road.  I walked down to Barn Sale Rd and when I got here to the wide open area where it was really windy turned around and walked back to town.

I didn't see anyone else out walking or running, nor any wildlife either.  The cows along Barn Sale were out eating hay out of the big round feeder.  Haven't seen Lone Chicken and Friends for a while now.  They stay inside with lights and hay keeping warm. 

Bus driver number 10 passed me three times and waved every time.  Haven't met her yet.

Enjoyed my walk but it was nice to get home to a warm house.  
I walked 6.1 miles - 11,649 steps.
I found a dime. : )

We've been home during the day doing stuff around the house.

I ordered some rain pants on line from Dicks and they came in the mail today.  I got two pair because they were on sale and I got two for the price of one and free shipping. I should be set with rain pants for years.

This was the evening that the ladies from church met for our Christmas  gift exchange (this is the gift I brought) and time of fellowship.  We met at a restaurant called Dutch's that I've never been to or heard of before.  It was a beautiful place all decorated for Christmas.  There were 15 of us and we had a great time.  I was too busy talking and having a good time to take any pictures.

Hiking at Happy Trails

I didn't get up till 8:00 this morning.  I must have needed that extra sleep.  Didn't have time to walk before I had to leave for my hair appointment.

Found those ornaments.  They were down in the basement in some shaker boxes.  I remembering putting them in there now to keep them safe.  : )

It snowed for a couple of hours in the morning, but then the sun came out and we had a beautiful sunny day with a beautiful blue sky.  Cold though - afternoon it was 16 and windy. 

After lunch we went up to Happy Trails, not do any work but just hike around there for a while.  I didn't get my 6 mile walk in but a hike up there of 3 miles, I think just about equals a 6 mile walk around town.

We decided to go out for supper tonight.  We went down to LaVale and tried out a steak house down there called Texas Grill House.  The food was good but not excellent and I like Outback or Longhorn better.  Still it was nice to go out for supper.

Home now for a little reading, knitting, cross stitching and television and snack time.  That sounds like a lot to do in a few hours!!  : )  I'll do some of it anyway.

Oh yeah, those twinkies (I had two) last night, they were as good as I thought they'd be. : )  I know they are not good for you but every once in while you have to splurge on something you really like.

Missing ornaments

A little bit chilly out there this morning.  16 degrees and very windy.  I once again went walking with my ice walkers on my feet.  These last three days I wouldn't have been able to walk if I didn't have them.
When I first left I thought I'd only be walking 3 miles or so because it was so cold, but once I walked a mile, I warmed right up.  The sun came out and felt so good on my face.

I had another random walk around town.  I figured the farm loop road would have been really cold out in the open with the wind. 

I didn't see anyone else out today.  Just people bundled up walking from their house to their car.  They must have thought I was crazy out walking for fun. : )

I walked 6.1 miles - 11,759 steps.

Ken and I went out this morning.  Since my car doesn't do snow and ice, Ken dropped me off at the nursing home so I could visit with Harry and he did a little shopping.  I went to Brenda's office and gave her the bag of Christmas gifts for Harry.  Harry is doing fine.  He has such a great attitude. 
Today he said to me,  "I hope you continue to visit me after Christmas."  : )

Ken and I had a bite out for lunch in a little place in Oakland and then went to Walmart and did a little shopping - mostly food.

I started putting ornaments on the Christmas tree but can't seem to find a whole big box of them.  They have gotten missed placed with the move.  The only ornaments I can find are the glass ones.  All the homemade ones and the special ones I've had for years are the ones that are missing. 

I finished my book club book last night, Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline and I liked this book a LOT.  I'm glad it's my book because I liked it so much that I would enjoy reading it again.  Parts of it were sad, but I smiled too and I liked the ending.

After supper I walked to the library for the book club. The name of the book club is the ABC.  There were eight of us there and everyone liked Orphan Train.  We chose the next three months books.
I looked on the shelf to see if there were any more books there by Christina Baker Kline but no luck.  I did come home with three other books though.

I'm having something different for my snack tonight - a twinkie.   I picked up a box of them while at Walmart today.   I haven't had a Twinkie in years but just had a hankering for one.  I hope I like it as much as I think I will. : )

Well, that's been my day.  It's been a good one.

Kim - Yes, I think you're right.  I love living in a small town and snow just seems part of that somehow.  I used to live between Washington DC and Baltimore so yes, this is out in the country.
Yes, Ken will be writing on a red ball again.  One day he will just take the ball and write something on it and I'm always surprised.  I'll be sure to post a picture of it when he does.
Nellie - No, I don't have snow pants but that may be a good idea.  Right now I wear two pair of leggings and sweat pants.  If it is really cold I'll also wear tights.
