Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Sunday

Happy Sunday

The Crossroads of the Cross

As a man travels through this life,
There are many joys and sometimes strife.
But in each life, there is a place;
It's there because of God's amazing grace!
At this crossroads you will find
That Jesus died for all mankind.
'Tis the crossroad of the cross!
Where some will be saved, and some will be lost.
This the choice only you can make,
For Jesus as your Saviour, to humbly take.
Carefully here you must choose,
For with the wrong choice your soul will lose,
This choice determines where you will be,
Throughout all eternity!
Suffering in Hell, with torment and pain.
Or, rejoicing in Heaven, praising Christ's name!
Jesus shed His blood on the cross,
So, men would not have to die lost.
However, the choice is up to you,
Now at this crossroad,
What will you do?

Tried to find the author of this but didn't have any luck.

This is this month's Bible verse we are learning at church.

1 Corinthians 1:18
For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness;
but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

Blessed Sunday to you.

Saturday

 A cloudy morning for walking.
68 degrees and no wind.

Walked all around town first and then the usual loops I go around.

I was walking down the road when I heard a beep, beep, beep.
It was our church van passing through town.
A couple from church was taking a group of teens down
state for a teen rally.

I got a kick out of the cow in the distance standing on the hill.

Farmer Marvin stopped to say hi and I asked him about
the calf who had the patch over it's eye.
It has pink eye, a bacterial infection.
The patch is to keep the sunlight out and flies from
getting in their eyes and passing it on to other cows.

KitKat was taking a rest and stayed there as I walked by.
He didn't even look at me today.

๐Ÿ˜Š    ☁️    ๐Ÿ„    ๐Ÿงข

Went to the library for a morning of stitching with the ladies.
5 of us there this time.
I started knitting a simple fun fluffy scarf.
Just a knit stitch with no counting so I could knit and talk.
This is how much I got done.

Just puttered about the house this afternoon.

Hope you had a great Saturday.
Thanks for coming by.

Reading

We had some pretty violent thunderstorms come
by during the night.
The thunder kept rumbling on for such a long time.
A little rain still falling as I started walking this morning
so my umbrella came in handy again.
After 20 minutes or so the rain stopped and the rest of my
walk was mostly sunny with a few clouds.
The temperature was 65 degrees.

Had my usual walk all over town, around both cemeteries, the ball park,
and the new road loop.

The picture doesn't do this justice.
It was breathtaking.

I saw RuthAnne out walking her dogs.

๐Ÿ™‚    ☔️   ๐ŸŒค️

Did a few things around the house but spent
a good part of the day reading.
Kept on reading till I finished my book.
The Castle in the Glen by Rhys Bowen.
I thought it was a great book!!!
A book within a book.

This week for super we are having another Margarita pizza
like we did last week.
Still have lots of tomatoes from our tiny little garden.

Just a note - I've been reading blogs but unable to comment.๐Ÿ™
Think many of you are having the same problem.

Hope your day was a good one.
Thank you for coming by.

Then and now

My new umbrella has been in the laundry room
and this morning I thought I might as well put it in the Jeep.
( that's where I always keep it)
No rain was expected but as I was walking I
felt a few drops of rain and went to the Jeep and got the umbrella.
The rain came down in buckets so I got to use the new umbrella.
It only rained for 5 minutes and then just cloudy.
Temperature was 72.

Yesterday I was looking on the internet for a picture of the old
post office in town when it was in use but couldn't find anything.
But I did come across this old picture of the
Zion Cemetery which is the one on top of the hill.
Don't know what year it was taken.

Here it is this morning.
The new sign was moved to the left.

Walked down the main road towards home, up Sale Barn a ways,
then both cemeteries, and the new road loop.
Continued around town till I had all my steps in.

Anna and her dad Mark were out walking
and saw Rebecca out too.

๐Ÿ˜Š    ☁️    ☔️

Finished up this week house cleaning.

Made some of those Forgotten Cookies.
I made the little bite ones.

This afternoon I went outside and pulled weeds
out of the gravel around the house.
It's an overwhelming job and the rest I'm not going to worry about
and just let the weeds die on their own.

Then I sat out on the front porch for a while.

Supper tonight is soft shell tacos.

It's been a good day and for that I am thankful.
Thank you for coming by.
Hope you had a wonderful day.

Debby - Yes, the old post office is abandoned. It's been like that ever since we've lived here.

The Old Post Office

A mostly sunny morning walk with some clouds around.
Temperature was 68, a slight breeze and
sunrise was 6:46

Walked around town and stopped at the post office to
mail a birthday card to a friend.

There is an old building along the main street in town
which was the old post office.

Walked around the ball park loop, the new road loop, and
the lower cemetery.
Had all my steps in before I got to walk around the cemetery up the hill.

School has started up again.
I thought it started next week after Labor Day but they went a week early.
Mike, bus number 46 driver who has been waving to me for the 13
years I have been walking here is driving his bus again this year.
Nice to see him again after the summer.
Other bus drivers wave to me too but Mike has been here the longest.

๐Ÿ˜Š    ๐Ÿฅพ    ๐Ÿ    ๐ŸŒค️

The KitKat ice cream I had last night was quite good
and it did taste like the KitKat candy
but it does not replace my favorite of
Chocolate Chip Mint.

Did some house work.
Laundry
Wiped down the kitchen cabinets
Washed the kitchen floor
Cleaned the bathroom

Sat out on the front porch and read.
Reading a Rhys Bowen book,
The Castle in the Glen
and it is rather good!!!

Having supper in just a little while
and then it's off for the Wednesday evening church service.
Have to stop at the library on my way to pick up a couple of DVD's.
Library is open late till 7:30 on Wednesdays.

Thank you for stopping by and hope you enjoyed your day.

Umbrella

Happy September
68 degrees and cloudy this morning for walking.
Sunrise 6:45

Walked over to the library first to put a DVD down the drop.
Then continued to the industrial park and walked around there.

Back to town and around the ball park loop and new road loop.

Stopped to talk to Anna and her dad Mark.

Pretty quiet around town on this first day of September.

☁️    ๐Ÿ˜Š    ๐Ÿ

We only needed a few things this week so didn't make
the trip to either Walmart this week.
We just went to Deep Creek to the Shop and Save
which is just 7 miles down the road.
We went after lunch which was unusual for us.
Usually if we have to go anywhere we go in the morning.
We got a new kind of ice cream.
I thought it was by Edie but couldn't find the name on the container.
Anyway it is called KitKat.
Just had to try it and will have some tonight!

I'm looking forward to a rainy walk.
Why you ask?
Because Ken surprised me with a nice big new umbrella.
My old one after 14 years has seen better days.
I now have a nice big pink one and will be easily
seen on those rainy mornings.

That's going to be it for today.
Thank you for stopping by and hope you have a wonderful day.

Anna Says Thank You

A lot of clouds and a little sun this morning.
No breeze and the sun rose at 6:44.

It is just a bit too dark when I get to town to walk the cemeteries
so I walked around town first.

Then walked around all the 4 loops.
New Road
Ball Park
 Two Cemeteries

I was walking down the hill from the cemetery
and saw Anna and her dad Mark walking up to it.
When Anna saw me she ran all the way up the hill to meet me.
She was so excited to say thank you for the birthday card I made her.
It made me happy to be able to bring her so much joy with just a card.

The cosmos look so pretty all along the fence.

RuthAnn was out walking her dogs.
Stopped to say hi to the lady who runs the day care in town.
I saw Carrie coming down her driveway to start her walk as I was leaving.

☁️    ๐Ÿ˜Š    ⛅️    ๐Ÿšถ‍♀️

Had to hang the sheets over the drying rack in the house
because it was a little drizzly out today.

We took our garbage to the dump this morning

I got some cleaning done.

Finished sewing the weave-it baby blanket together.
You can see it

Thank you for stopping by and hope you had a wonderful day.

Sunday

 Happy Sunday

We sang The Old Rugged Cross at church this morning.
Probably one of the best known hymns and it happens
to be one of my favorites.
It brings tears to me eyes every time!!

The Old Rugged Cross
George Bennard

 1. On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,
the emblem of suffering and shame;
and I love that old cross where the dearest and best
for a world of lost sinners was slain.

Refrain:
So I'll cherish the old rugged cross,
till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
and exchange it some day for a crown.

2. O that old rugged cross, so despised by the world,
has a wondrous attraction for me;
for the dear Lamb of God left his glory above
to bear it to dark Calvary.

3. In that old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine,
a wondrous beauty I see,
for 'twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died,
to pardon and sanctify me.

4. To that old rugged cross I will ever be true,
its shame and reproach gladly bear;
then he'll call me some day to my home far away,
where his glory forever I'll share.

Click on the link to listen to it.

I am so thankful that our church still sings all the
old wonderful hymns.

I Peter 2:24

Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree,
that we, being dead to sins,
should live unto righteousness:
by whose stripes ye were healed.

A Blessed Sunday to you.

Last Nights Pizza

 Sunrise 6:42

A pretty sunny morning walk.
55 degrees and calm.

The morning moon.

Walked around the lower cemetery and then
up to the other one and walked around there too.
Went over to the long barn and walked around it.

One of the calves has a patch over his eye.
I'll have to ask Farmer Marvin about the little guy.

The next loop I went around was the New Road.
Then walked down the road towards home and back again.
Through town to the ball park, around there and back to the pond.

The Canadian geese came back for a visit.

I was walking past the church parking lot when I saw
a man get out of a car and walked toward the church.
The back door of the car opened and out came a little boy.
He shut the door.
Then the door opened again and his sister came out of the car,
saying to her brother, That wasn't a very gentlemanly thing to do.
It made me smile.
Of all the mean things she could have said to her brother
for closing the door on her she said that.

 ๐Ÿ˜Š    ๐Ÿฅพ    ☀️

Just had to show you this beautiful pizza Ken made
us for supper yesterday.
It tasted as good as it looks.

๐Ÿ•    ๐Ÿ•

No stitching this morning at the library.
Everyone had things to do and places to go so it was cancelled.

A beautiful day for drying clothes so I got two loads hung out on the line.

So nice to sit on the porch and read a while.
Have to do that while I can.
Fall comes quickly here.

Made more weave-it squares for another row and will sew
it on the blanket later.
That just leaves two more rows to go.
I need 7 more squares of each color.
Have plenty of white but I'm hoping I have enough
of the blue yarn.
It will be close!!!

Eating more tomatoes for supper again.
This time BLT's.

Thank you for visiting.
Hope you had a wonderful day.

Walking and Working

It was cloudy this morning when I walked.
64 degrees and calm.
Sunrise 6:42

Walked around all four of the loops.
Cemeteries
New Road
Ball Park

The sun trying to find it's way through the clouds.
(It eventually did and we had a nice sunny day)
Sun is in the middle of the picture.

Walking around the ball park.
The chickens did not come running to see me this time.
Their owner was throwing food by the handfuls out in the yard.

Found this cute baby toy on the ground and put it up here
on the post hoping it would be claimed and find it's way back to the baby.

Saw John out walking Prim and we stopped for a little chat.

๐Ÿ˜Š    ☁️    ๐Ÿฅพ

Had to cut my walk a bit short this morning because we wanted to
get an early start leaving for church for another work day doing

A pretty good turn out of people both days and we got 7,683 books done.

Here are some of the books ready to get stapled.

Here's another bunch that have to be cut
Three sides are cut to make it neat and tidy.
Ken is there on the left packaging up some books that are finished.

We worked till 12:30.
On the way home we stopped for a couple of burgers for lunch.

Just puttered around the house this afternoon.
We're making a Margherita pizza for supper
using tomatoes from the garden, fresh grown basil and mozzarella.
Yummy, it is going to be sooo good.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Hope you had a wonderful day.

  • The cemetery on the hill
  • Around the long barn
  • Up and down the main road towards home
  • Around town

A delightful ๐Ÿ™‚ morning for walking.
