Got to town and starting walking at 6:25 and sunrise was 7:22.
It was a clear morning with a sky full of stars.
The temperature was 41 degrees.
Walked under the street lights through town and over to the DG Market.
Then when it was light enough I walked around
the ball park loop a couple of times.
Inside the fire house things were getting set up for the
annual craft sale today and tomorrow.
These things always make me laugh blowing around in the wind.
Continued down the road to the cemeteries and walk
around both of them a couple of times.
Hard to tell from the picture but water was bubbling out of the ground.
By the time I was headed back from the cemetery men were
arriving to fix the broken water pipe.
Didn't see any other walkers.
No school today so no buses and less cars.
🥾 🍁 🎃
We ended up going food shopping this morning at Walmart.
Went early enough that there weren't many people there.
It was another beautiful sunny chilly Fall day.
MY ABC'S
a b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p q r s t u v w x y
Sometimes pictures, sometimes just words but it will be something about me.
E is for Eastern Christian High School located in North Haledon, New Jersey.
I went to Eastern Christian High School
for the last three years of high school.
Most other schools for years had a senior cut day but we didn't
until 1969 when I was a senior and we made history.
We seniors talked about it for weeks and finally decided
on a day we would do it.
My father worked nights so when he got home I was allowed
to take the car (1965 Pontiac Bonneville)
and drive to school so I was one of the ones with a car.
The whole class was supposed to go but only about 20 of us actually did it.
So the day came and we all just walked out at a certain time
got in cars and left and met up at Goffle Brook park.
I can't image kids doing this today on a senior cut day
but we didn't drink or party but had a lot of fun playing
soft ball at the park.
As luck would have it something happened to the axel of my car and
it couldn't be driven.
I can't remember how it happened, maybe hit a pot hole or something.
There was a gas station near by but they couldn't fix it in time for me to get home.
I thought oh no my dad is going to kill me.
So I called my dad from the gas station and he came and rescued me.
No, he didn't kill me and actually wasn't all that mad.
Probably because we did just play softball.
All of us who cut school had a couple days of detention
and the teachers were supposed to take a point off of our grades
but most of them raised our grades before taking the point off.
Hope I didn't bore you too much with my story.
Happy Friday.
Thanks for stopping by.

An interesting story! Phil went to Eastern Mennonite High School and College.
An interesting story! I can see the bubbling water in your photo.
What a fun story, kids still being kids even way back then. :) Thanks for sharing.
...bubbling water is never a good sign!
What a fun story. Kids will be kids. 🙂
An interesting story ... thank you.
Pleased the burst pipe was fixed.
All the best Jan
You were such a rebel! :) I enjoyed the story and you turned out ok in spite of the cut day.
It is so much fun reading your ABC stories...not boring at all.
Hi Karen. I love your weekly ABC stories. I always suspected that you were a bit of a rebel, and this story proves it. ;-) In high schools today, many kids cut class more than they are there - believe me, I know. I hope you have a wonderful weekend. See you again tomorrow!
That's a great story!! I can't remember that we had any such a day but it is a long time ago so who knows.
We did our grocery shopping this morning too. We take GS M. along and he does the shopping for his family.
Best wishes for the weekend, K.
God bless.
