Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Betty Crocker Points

The temperature was 45 degrees this morning for walking.
There was no wind and the sun was out but it was hazy.

Sunrise 5:50
Liking these light mornings.

Walked around the lower cemetery first and then on over to the
one up the hill.

If I turn right at the cemetery it takes me down to the Drane
house and one of the barns.
Here is one of 5 bulls in the pasture in front of the house.

Farmer Marvin was down that way too and we had a little chat.

If I turn left at the cemetery it takes me over to the long barn.
Went there this morning.
Barn empty except for a few cows and their calves.

I saw Lena walking around the cemetery and we walked around
it a couple of times together.
Lena is a walking and needlework friend and also Farmer Marvin's sister.
Down at the parking lot, she left for home and I continued walking
over to the ball park and walked around there too.

I ended up walking all on the left side of town, never made it
down the main street in town.

☁️    ☀️    🌸    🙂

Another sunny day and got a couple more loads of laundry washed
and hung out to dry.
Did a couple house chores and then went outside.

We had a couple of raised gardens out front and Ken moved
them out back with the tractor.
Wasn't going to plant anything this year but decided to go
ahead and try a couple of tomato plants and a pepper plant again.
Maybe we will get lucky this year.

Where the raised gardens were out front is where we are
going to put the garden shed.

I looked inside the little canister in the bottom right hand corner
of the picture which I hadn't look in for years.

What a surprise to find all these Betty Crocker coupons that I had
cut off of packages many years ago and had forgotten about.
Do you remember these?
Most of these I must have collected in the late 70's and 80's.
You could send 50 cents and get a catalog of items you could save up for.
Don't remember ever getting anything.

Some have no expiration date which are the older ones.
The ones with dates expired in 1999.

Nice to spend some time sitting on the front porch this afternoon
knitting and listening to the birds.
We sat out on the back deck and watched a mama deer
come collect her baby.

Thawed some ground beef for supper but didn't know what to make
with it so looked up a new recipe on line and came up with
Mexican Beef Skillet.
It was very good but I made a lot of changes to the recipe.
Haven't put the recipe on my recipe blog yet but will tomorrow.

That's it for today.
Hope your Tuesday was a good one.
Thanks for stopping by.

Sandi - No, have no idea how many miles I've walked but it is A LOT!!🙂

GrannyM - The chipmunk must reach under the wire somehow to get to the seeds.  It takes him a while though.  Now there are 2 chipmunks but still no birds. We just have sunflowers seeds on the feeder.  Going to get a mix of seeds and see if that makes a difference.

Hello! Enjoy your walks, my friend. You'd be proud of me! I have been exercising! Swimming, not walking. But exercising! Thanks for the inspiration!

My mom used to collect these. I remember them being all over the kitchen. A long morning walk has become the best ritual of my retirement :)

I love this series of photos, that bull is amazing! I love long walks in nature, at 68 years of age I still have never tired of this. I so enjoy your posts, thank you so much for sharing.

Hi Karen. I do remember those Betty Crocker Coupons. I save them off and on, but don't think I ever got anything with them. I also remember Green Stamps from way back in the day. My mom saved them and when I was little, I loved helping her put them in books. She got quite a few useful things with them as I recall. I love the scripture at the end. What a precious picture. See you again tomorrow!

Thanks for answering my question about the chipmonks getting at the seeds. They have all the time in the world to figure out ways to get what they want.
Isn't that interesting how you forgot all about those coupons that you cut out and saved all those years ago!

When you post the recipe, I hope you tell about the changes you made. Wish we had chipmunks...

Sounds like a lovely day! I love hearing the birds singing early in the morning. The Mexican beef skillet sounds yummy. Great landscapes and a handsome bull. Take care, have a wonderful day!

I remember those Betty Crocker coupons. I don't think I ever saved them though.
The last time I tried to plant tomatoes and peppers, something ate the plants down to little stubs. I would love to plant them again but it's not worth the effort if little critters are going to munch them down.

That's a nice walk with the bonus of people encounters for your Tuesday. I never collected those coupons. That little canister kept them safe for years! :) Enjoy your Wednesday...by now you are probably done with your walk and breakfast!

According to what Carroll read that haze is coming from a fire somewhere. I guess it's that time of year, but one would think with all of the rain we've been having things would be too wet for a fire to start easily.

I do remember the Betty Crocker coupons! As a matter of fact, when our kids were young, they captured some without my knowledge and ordered a recipe book for me for Mother's Day one year.

I love that basket in your picture and how you use it to display your canisters...and on the quilted table runner. So pretty...that's my style! ~wink~

Have a wonderful rest of your week, my friend. xx

I used to make a Mexican beef skillet that used cauliflower rice instead of regular rice. Now I make a very similar one but it's Italian flavored.

Oh my, I haven't thought of those coupons in years. Like you I had a canister full, I don't remember what happened to them. They were so important to me at the time! Enjoyed walking with you today, always love the pictures you share along the way.

I use to save them for school fund raisers at my kids school. Do you remember Mallo Cups. I would save those for prizes. Janice
