Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Tap Tap

It was a bit foggy when I started walking this morning and 55 degrees.

I walked around both of the cemeteries.

Went over to the long barn

to see the cows.

Farmer Marvin was there and told me the last of the calves was
born last night.
140 of them were born here this year.

Down the other end of the barn the hay hadn't been put out yet
and when I walked by all the cows started mooing because they
thought I was bringing food.

I saw KitKat sitting on the side of the road and he didn't come over
to see me.
I looked closely and saw that he was looking at a rabbit in the grass.
Rabbit was perfectly still and so was KitKat.
I've circled the rabbit.

I walked around the cemetery two times and on the way back they
were still there!!
I didn't stay around to see who moved first.

Continued walking around town and over to the ball park and walked
around there.

Shawn was out walking and I saw her three different times.
She is the DIL of Lisa who I used to see most days.

By the end of my walk I saw blue sky up there with the clouds.

🌫     ☁️    🌤

I had all those egg whites in the refrigerator from when I needed 9
egg yolks for those cookies so this morning I made Forgotten Cookies with them.
I usually make bite sized ones but made big ones this time since
I had so many egg whites.

I was doing the dishes and I heard a tap tap.
Thought it was someone at the door but it was a bird tapping on the
window on the French doors out to the deck.
When I went there the bird landed on the clothes line.
I took a picture of it.
The bird is on the right.

Another picture that I cropped.

I tried to find it on line and I think it is a Pipilo or a towhee?

Edit:  Thanks to you all who identified the bird as an oriole.
I thought they would be brighter.

It picked at some of the clothes and then finally flew away.

I went outside and worked on the path and started lining it with rocks.
Got a lot done and if the weather is nice tomorrow I'll finish.

After coming inside I read till supper time which was
baked potatoes and shrimp.

It's been a good day and for that I am thankful.
Hope your day was a good one too.
Thanks for stopping by.

Hi Karen. So glad you had a nice day. That is a good picture of the bird on your clothesline. It's always fun to see what you've been up to. Have a good week! See you again soon.

I think you have an oriole.

The bird may be some kind of Oriole? He came and asked to be on your blog, and even posed for you! The showdown of KitKat and the bunny!!

Those cows have plenty to eat.

God bless.

140, that's a lot of calves. I have a recipe for forgotten cookies that I got from my mother years ago. I think I made them once. Maybe I should try them again.
All I could think when I saw that bird sitting on your clothes was that with the kind of luck I have he probably would have done his business there and I would have been rewashing clothes.lol

Hello,
It is little foggy here this morning. Love the cows and I believe your bird is an Oriole. Cute photo of the bunny and KitKat. Take care, have a great day!

The female oriole

KitKat has her priorities. :)

I thought also it could be a female Orchard Oriole. The females are not nearly as bright, and there is a lot of variability.

That is a beautiful oriole! My niece has an oriole feeder that uses grape jelly!

I thought it was an oriole too as we have them here. If that had been my Tanner cat, that bunny would have been a goner for sure. He nabbed a squirrel and a snake that I witnessed. He was my fat boy. I sure do miss him. Janice

What a funny interaction with the bird. That cat and bunny scene is so funny that they were both so still for so long. I'm catching up with posts!
