Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A nice day for porch sitting

It was a little foggy this morning when I first left the house but ended up with a sunny walk. It was 55 degrees with a slight breeze.

I walked down the main road and up and down a few side streets and made my way over to the industrial park and walked around there.

Went up and down the street behind the DG Market.

Next went and walked up behind our old house in town.

Stopped to talk to a man who was working in his yard.  I told him that his yard looked like a park which he rather liked. 🙂 He invited me to walk around in it as he told me all the plants names.  His name is Shawn.  I'll remember his name but not all the plants names!!

Went back down the main road to the lower cemetery, walked around there and then back to the Jeep.

I saw John out walking Prim when I first got to town.

Morning Walk Steps 13,019

☀️     ☀️     ☀️

This morning we were in the mood for French toast so made that for breakfast.

A sunny day so did a load of laundry.
The unnatural sounds that the washing machine is making, Ken says is the bearings.
Guess I have a new washing machine in my near future.  Not looking forward to getting a new one.
I really like the one I have.  Nothing fancy and still has dials to turn!!

Finished up the last of this weeks house cleaning in the morning.

Afternoon spent working on the cross stitch a little and puttering about.
A nice sunny afternoon so sat on the porch and read a while.  Reading a Miss Read book, Village Affairs.

That's it for this Friday.  Week zoomed right past!!
Happy Friday and thanks for stopping by.
HappyK🙂

At the end of yesterday I hit the 5,000,000 step mark. 🥾 Again that is NOT just walking steps but ALL DAY steps.

A morning walk sets us out on the right foot for the day.

Love your photos today! Our old neighbors had to get a new washer, and they went to a locally owned appliance store...and got commercial one that was designed for laundry mats and were very happy with it. It is hard to decide what is a good one of the new ones. My daughters here for the way I set it with second rinse and all takes an hour and 11 minutes. The one at home took even longer. The one positive thing about both of them....they spin the clothes out better than any washer I have ever had. I even got on consumer reports before I bought mine...but of course they did not have the exact models I had decided to try.

These trees are gorgeous! None of ours here look like this yet. What I hate about having to buy large appliances is how much they change! You usually cannot get the exact same kind of features that you always loved. I hope you can find a comparable washer!

I love starting the day off with a walk. I do mine on the treadmill because our road isn't really very safe for walking... narrow road and lots of traffic. But I haven't been able to walk on the treadmill for about 10 days because of sciatica issues. I miss it!

I'm not always good at remembering peoples names but I'm even worse at remembering plant names. I used to have yarrow growing in my front yard but could never remember the name of it.
I love french toast. That sounds really good.

Hello, there! What beautiful autumn photos you shared today. And French Toast? One of my very favorites! It was the very first thing I ever learned to make. Happy Saturday!

One step at a time, keep on stepping.

Beautiful autumn colours. My washing machine was making strange noises too and had a terrible smell but I found out that was due to me putting too much in. I don't put so much in now and it's been fine, apart from still needing an extra rinse cycle. I guess I'll need a new one eventually. I get fed up with all the programmes they offer especially since most people only ever use two or three different programmes. Hot, cool, standard or half load does for me.

So sorry about your washer. My daughter has a Maytag with no electronics which she loves. Had one in an apartment and bought one later for her home. I hope when and if I ever need another washer that they're still make them - simple is best!

A word of advice for a washer. If you want a regular non-fancy (LOL) washer you will pay a bit more for it but it is worth it. The man who is our repairman for the appliances in our rental house had an appliance store. He said the new washers that control the water amount do not do as good a job. He said agaitation is the key to clean clothing. See if you have a mom and pop appliance store close to you. Good Luck.
