Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Short Train Video

37 degrees this morning when I got to town for my morning walk.
Very calm and after sunrise a mix of sun and clouds.

Had a nice walk around town,
both cemeteries and the ball park.
It was garbage day and I saw lots of holiday packaging and boxes
out for pick up.
We have to bring our garbage to the dump because only the
town people get it picked up at the curb.

Saw one woman out walking her dog who I've never seen before.
A lot of days I see a woman park in the pond parking lot
and take her dog down to the pond, stays for a minute or two
and then gets back in the car and away they go.
Today I saw them.

Walked 6 miles

Food shopping day.
First stopped at the Dollar General.
Got what we could there, then on to the Shop and Save to get the rest.

The clouds took over the sky later in the day
and we got some rain too.
I'm just about done sewing the baby blanket squares together
and should be done later this evening.

Ken got me the whole series of Downton Abby on DVD for Christmas
and we will start watching it this evening.
I watched a lot of it when we had TV but missed a lot of
the episodes so it is really great to have the whole series.

🚂    🚂

Had some comments yesterday asking about Ken's
Train Layout.
Yes, sometimes he is working on the layout when I'm walking
but not usually.

Yes, he does just play with the trains at times.
He makes up a schedule and picks up different loads from one location
and delivers them to another location.

He does have me walking on the layout. 😊

Thanks for stopping by.
Hope your Tuesday was a happy one. 🙂

How special was that! And there you are taking big steps. Hello Karen! I love your first picture. The blue is always so blue there. I can't help wondering how long it will be before the landfills are full of all of our trash.

Fabulous Karen! Thanks so very much! That's a big train layout, and long trains. Fascinating.

Hello Happyone! First of all, I love Ken's video and his train setup. Wow, he has put so much work into that layout. Please pass along my congrats! Next, your photos today are great. As I've said many times before, you have a really good eye for what makes a really good image. Lastly, you asked if I had those spikes to attach to shoes for walking on icey surfaces. I don't but I know I should get some. On my snow walk yesterday, I wore my snow boots and tried to stay on snow and away from the real icey spots. Thanks for the question and, as always, for your kind comments on my blog. Happy New Year to you and Ken! John

We just recently enjoyed re-watching Downton Abbey and I think we enjoyed it more than the first time around. Maybe because we didn't have to wait from one year to the next.

That is a great video of the train layout. He sure has done a super job with it. And I love that you are walking in the set.

That's amazing! Thank you so much. I love trains and live not in, but it's my town, a famous train town. Has Ken and you ever been to see the Tehachapi Loop? I'm sure he knows about it. I live not too far from there. I really enjoyed this video and I'm amazed at how fabulous all this is. Quite a guy, your Ken.

That is a big train set.

Beautiful skies.

Either you are very small, or the layout is full size. If the latter, how big is you home to house such a train set in the basement?

God bless.

WoW!!!!!! What a wonderful set up! Amazingly detailed. Wow, wow, wow!

A lot of time went into building it, for sure.

And the 'frosting on the cake,' is a figure of you, walking!!!!!!!

And a winter Header! -smile- Or has it been here, and I have not noticed it? -smile-

I hope your weather improves soon so that you can walk in the open but it's good that you have the option to walk at home. I enjoyed watching Downton Abbey and was hoping to visit Highclere House (where it was filmed) when I saw that it is close to where Vytas and Sally live but even before covid you had to book at least a year ahead.

I like those first pictures with the interesting clouds.
How nice that Ken has 'you' walking along the tracks on his train layout. Hope your day is going well.
