Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

The Smiling Rock

Another one of those beautiful fall mornings.
42 degrees and calm with lots of sun.
πŸ‘Ÿ Walked 6 miles πŸ‘Ÿ

I start out each morning now walking down the main street
in town because it has street lights to light my way.
Once it was lighter I walked all over town, the ball park,
and one of the cemeteries.

I'm just getting to the cemetery on top of the hill here.
It is just after 8:00 and I'm nearing the end of my walk.
Interesting and beautiful walking in the sun seeing a cloud up ahead.
Couldn't decide which picture to post so here's all three.

I must have passed this rock hundreds of times walking and never noticed
until today that it is smiling. πŸ™‚

Joy was out walking this morning
and I saw another woman walking her dog.

Stairs Number 5
Double Take

🍁    🍁    🍁

After eating breakfast Ken and I sit for a bit and talk about what we
are going to do during the day.
He had a hankering for some Pumpkin Bread and asked
if I would bake some today.
So that's what I did this morning.

Such a pretty day today so took advantage of it
and got a load of laundry hung out.

Went outside after lunch.
We are making a road where the tractor and ATV can drive along.
Even with the tractor it is quite a job.
We decided to make the road because getting all those rocks
and driving the tractor up and down has turned into a road
anyway.  So we are just making it longer.
Though we can make our way to the cabin in the ATV through the
woods, having a road from the house to the cabin through the
woods would be great.
(Not for cars, just the tractor and ATV)
That should keep us busy for the next year!!

πŸ‚ Happy October 🍁
Hard to believe that September has come and gone already.
Thanks for stopping by.

October is the fallen leaf,
but it is also a wider horizon more clearly seen.
It is the distant hills once more in sight,
and the enduring constellations above them once again.

I'm glad you decided to include all three of the pictures because they're so neat. I like what you did to the first one. How you figure out how-to amazes me.
I must admit I don't see the smile on the rock. You may have to draw some eyes and a nose ???

You will never not see that smiling rock again. And what a glorious view you had in those photos! I would love to see 40's in the mornings. We will eventually. Just yearning for a chill in the air. Happy Friday!

Oh, love all three...so glad you had trouble deciding and just posted all three. I could not have chose a favorite. Double Take is a good title for the stairs shot.

It sure is a beautiful time of year! In the 70s when we walked this morning but that felt cool to us! lol At least it was less hot! Love seeing all you are doing around your house with the rocks. Looks so nice!

I can’t choose a favorite either. All are awesome pictures. I love the “wider horizon and distant hills” a perfect entry for my daily journal! Thanks!

Now I was just checking out your pumpkin bread recipe a couple of days ago. I like it because it makes more than one loaf. Maybe I'll get it together before too much longer. Oh boy. You really do have a project now. You always take interesting pictures.

Are those stairs twins? Or were they made at different times?

God bless.

I just wrote a long comment about how you inspired me to do my laundry and hang on my lines today. Then it disappeared. I love to read about your walks and your days.

I love the first picture, as it captures everything!!!!!

A -smiling- rock. Awwwww... -smile-

Those back entry way steps are close together. Never far from neighbors there.

Pumpkin Bread! Sounds gooood!

And the road sounds like a good idea too!
