June is my Walking Anniversary Month
I thought I'd do a different type of post today about my walk.
This year makes 33 years of taking a morning walk.
It all started back in June of 1988 when I was 37 years old.
We lived in Waldorf, Maryland and I walked with a friend Joanne.
After the kids got off to school we would meet and take a walk.
We lived in a development so just walked passed houses.
No blogging back then so didn't take any pictures.
Joanne moved away and that was when I started walking alone.
Though I enjoyed walking with Joanne I liked it even better alone
and have continued walking alone till this day.
We moved to Savage, Maryland in 1994 and I got to explore a
whole new area for walking.
Savage was a town that time seemed to forget stuck in the
middle of a very crowded area.
At first I walked all around town and then discovered
some walking paths that led to a river and would walk along there.
After some years I started blogging and then started taking
pictures along my walk.
A few pictures of where I walked.
Moved to Ellicott City in 2009 and lived 1/2 mile from Centennial Park.
There was a 2 1/2 mile walking path around the whole lake.
LOTS of wildlife there and it was a great place for walking.
I'm sure many of you remember the lake.
There were also lots of walking paths winding through neighborhoods.
So much fun when we first moved there because I would take a
path and never know where I'd end up.
I had a route I named the Connect the Paths.
Walking around the lake and the paths was my favorite place of all to walk.
So many different places for walking.
We lived right between to large cities (DC and Baltimore) but you
would never know it where I walked.
In 2013 we moved up here to western Maryland
and I've been walking here ever since.
Lived in town for the first 5 years and
this Aug we will be in our new house 3 years.
I love walking around here were it is so peaceful and beautiful.
I've enjoyed walking where ever we have lived and have met so many
people over the years.
My morning walk has kept me sane, happy, and very
Thankful for each and every day.
So I celebrate 33 years of morning walks.
I thank all of you loyal readers who 'walk' along with me each day.
Thanks so much for stopping by
and remembering with me.

Comment Replies: Ellen and Diane - The blooms of yesterday are from a Chinese Dogwood - Cornus Kousa. They bloom later than a regular dogwood. Passed by the tree again this morning and took a picture.
Victor - Yes, that is a llama in the picture from yesterday. There are two of them there at Farmer Bill's Farm.
John - Glad you tried the French fries and the Air Fryer and like them.

Happy walking anniversary, Happy One. You are to be commended on such an incredible record. You have been blessed to have lived in such beautiful places. You are one of those wonderful people who makes every trail you walk a happy one!
Thank you for sharing the history and some photos from your 33 years of walking. Congratulations, that's a long time. Have you always walked six miles? I can only imagine how much your walks have contributed to good health and fitness. Here's to 33 more! :)
It was so much fun to read this. You have really taken such good care of yourself, both physically and mentally, as walking does make you a Happy One. Feeling totally inadequate, but inspired...
...you certainly are dedicated!
Well, happy walking anniversary! Walking every day for 33 years is quite a accomplishment and from what I've gathered since I started reading your blog you don't let much stop you! Plus you have had such beautiful areas to walk in!
Wow! that takes some determination to keep on walking. Good for you. You always share such interesting views, so thanks.
Thanks for sharing your wonderful walking journey! Loved all the pictures, as well. You live in a safe area for walking. Again, a great walking journal.
Hi Karen. I think I started following your blog about the time you moved to Ellicott City. I do remember your daily posts about walking around the lake. Charly and I started walking after we moved in Illinois in 1992, but we didn't walk every day - mostly on the weekends, and sometimes at night. So glad you are still walking and going strong. Charly credit walking with the fact that he recovered from the brain aneurysm he had in 2017. Lots of people die from brain aneurysms. Anyway, your reading about your walks every day have inspired me to keep on walking! :-)
Well, then...happy walk-a-versary!! I liked the photos, but enjoyed reading what areas & where you trekked over the years more.
I loved hearing how you got into walking. I wished we had paths around here, but we have to drive somewhere to walk because of the dangerous roads around us. I do miss walking because of my bad knees.
Congratulations on your committment! I'm sure it's been good for you too. I've enjoyed following your walks for several years now. Great pictures of those pathways too.
Hi Happyone! Wow, this is a great post! Happy 33rd Walking Anniversary to you! I'm not sure exactly, but I think I've been following you for about 5 years, maybe longer. You are actually the one who inspired me to start walking and taking pictures along the way to post on my blog. Thank you for that! I enjoyed all the photos showing us the walks in your previous locations. Every since you started taking pictures they have been very cool. You definitely have "the eye" for what makes a good photo. Now consider this ... you usually walk 6 miles. I know there will be exceptions, but just for fun ... if you walked 6 miles every day for 33 years that would be 72,270 miles. That's about the same as walking around the earth (24,901 miles) 3 times! Wow! Amazing. So, again, Happy 33! John
Beautiful shots!
Congratulations on 33 years of walking! I enjoyed seeing all the old places where you used to walk.
Congratulations on your walking anniversary. 33 years!! I enjoyed seeing the photos of some of the paths you've had the joy of walking along. I hope you can keep on walking for a long time.
Wow, you've been walking a long time. I wonder if your friend Joanne still walks? You said walking keeps you sane, happy and very thankful but you left out that it is keeping you very healthy. Good for you that you started walking and have never stopped.
33 years of walking. Have you worked out how many miles overall? Probably all the way to the moon and back. Or all around the world perhaps. And only two llamas in sight!
God bless.
You have lived at some great varied places and great locations for scenic walking- 33 years of walking is a long time- you must be very fit Karen.
Beautiful photos and memories of places you walked, very impressive.
Beautiful
Happy 33rd Walking Anniversary to you! Do you love "walking quotes"? I share this one with you, I think you know this one already. never mind.
In every walk with nature, one receives far more than he seeks.

Wow! That's a long history of walks! I wonder how many miles you've walked in all that time? You find some really nice places to go. How do you find them? Is there a resource you use? A trail book or something? Or do you just happen upon them? Congrats on 33 years of walks! Happy Thursday!
Well you certainly are a dedicated walker. How fun to post the history here on your 33rd anniversary of walking. Love all those paths you enjoyed walking. Congratulations!
