Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Busy Day

August Bible Verse Challenge

Day 24 - Womb

Jeremiah 1:5 KJV

Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee:
and before thou camest forth out of the WOMB I sanctified thee,
and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

64 degrees this morning and cloudy when I left on my walk.  Saw a little bit of sun trying to break through the clouds but it didn't quite make it.

The sun did come out later in the morning and we ended up having a beautiful sunny cool summer day.

Counted 9 deer down the road from my house running away from the apple tree.  I seem to be always disturbing the deer having their breakfast!

Had my usual walk to town, around the cemeteries, the ball park and around town.

Saw Lena and her husband Jim out walking.

Walked 5.9 miles

Got the sheets washed and out on the line and chili started in the slow cooker.  Ken was nice and cut up the peppers and celery for me.

Then we left to get a load of gravel.  I always say we went to the stone store but it is actually at the quarry.  There are two quarries near us and we live about 14 miles away from each of them in different directions.  The one in Maryland has the grey stone and the one in Pennsylvania has the redish stone.  We went to the PA one today.

We put the gravel on the path in between the rock that we crushed.  Once it rains the gravel will have the dust washed off and it will look more red.

We had some gravel left over that we just put around where it needed a bit more.

We took a few rest breaks and sat on the porch.  Didn't see the deer in the yard today.

A couple of years ago our friend Dennis gave us some Wisteria that he potted for us.  Planted it along the rebar fence we made and hoped for the best.  After two years now it is finally looking good and growing well. Still hasn't flowered yet but maybe next year.

This month we have been living in our new house here at Happy Trails for two years.  Previously we lived in town for 5 years.

Nice that we had the chili cooking all day so didn't have to cook supper.  We used the chili in taco salad.

It's been another busy day here at Happy Trails which makes for good sleeping.

Thanks for stopping by.
A happy day to you.

2 years already! It will be 2 years here, too, come the middle of September.
Those slow cooker meals come in handy for sure. Your property is looking real nice. Thanks for that verse in Jeremiah!

I've been so hungry for chili and I made cornbread awhile back and froze some...so it may be time to cook a pot of chili! Enjoy your day! Love all your home improvements and the sign!

Taco salads sound good and so does chili. Here in North Carolina, its 76 degrees this morning and cloudy. The humidity makes it feel like 96!
Love that sign.

The gravel is looking good. That looks like a nice spot for the wisteria. It was at least 10 years before the wisteria at Dingles which had reached the upstairs windows , flowered. It was lovely and then the new owners chopped it all down.
