Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

October Blanket

A drive to town again and started my walk at 6:43.
Always have to be on the lookout for deer running in the road.
Three of then ran in front of me today.
It was 44 degrees.  (Yesterday we had our first frost.)
The moon and stars were still out when I started walking.
Pretty windy and once the sun rose it stayed out.
One of those crisp clear mornings.
A very random walk all over town up and down the streets,
around the ball park loop and both cemeteries too.

Lots of people have decorated their houses and yards for Halloween.
Used to be you would see mostly pumpkins, mums, bales of hay, corn stalks,
and pretty tame things.
I've noticed now the decorations have gotten pretty gruesome.
This picture I've taken is pretty mild to what I've seen but still
not a very pleasant thing to have in your yard.
A witch burning at the stake.
I saw Mark, a friend from church while out walking.
He was with a crew that was renovating a house in town.
I stopped and had a little chat with him.

Saw Rebecca out running but she was up the road a bit
and didn't see me.
When I got back to the Jeep to go home
Kathy's car was there but no sign of her.

Sure was a nice morning to be out walking.
Walked 6 miles
Found a penny
🍁     ☀️     🍂
A good day for hanging laundry out on the line.
When it is a bit chilly the clothes smell even better line dried.
There was a bit of a wind and I went out a bunch of times to
untangle the clothes.

The latest baby blanket finally got finished.
These colors seemed a good choice for October.
Thursday is Baby Blanket Day and I'll hand this one in
and start another for next month.
Not sure of the colors I'll be using yet.

I volunteered to do the devotional this month
and spent some time this afternoon figuring out what to say.
I prayed about it because nothing was coming to mind.
Then 'kindness' popped into my thinking so will be speaking on that.

Did some ironing this afternoon.
Don't really have much ironing to do anymore.
Just a few dress shirts that Ken wears to church
and a couple blouses for me.

That's it for today.
Hope yours was a happy one.

RT - Once we finish a puzzle we usually take it apart to do again if we liked doing it. Some we give away and some we've thrown in the trash.
Two of them we glued together to save, cows which hang in the kitchen and one of birds that is in the bathroom.
Our little cabin doesn't really have much wall space for hanging puzzles and is pretty rustic.

It has been a glorious day here as well. A chilly start, but I am enjoying fall. I was out for a walk after supper. It's nice to be out and it not hot.

That baby blanket is a beauty...I sure love the colors.

I like fall decorations, but I was noticing today some of the decorations I just would not want.

That's a pretty blanket. Are they washable? They look lovely but fragile but no doubt they must be washable since they're made for little ones.

It’s your blog so I won’t add more to the decoration discussion except to say that I am pretty sure that we are in agreement. October is beautifully decorated by God without the other stuff.

Your October blanket is so pretty. I just love the colors and blends. Perfect!

I agree with Vee on decorations for October! Who needs more? The baby blanket turned out beautifully. Have you told us before how the blankets are distributed?

Hi Karen- One of my Doctor's Reception Areas features a lot of glass framed Jig-Saw Puzzles..they all are very neat and you have to look hard to realize that they are in fact Jig-Saw Puzzles. Halloween? Basically we don't have Halloween here- some Dollar Shops have tried to sell Halloween items in the hope that it catches on- some years ago we've had Children knock on the front door asking for Lollies...that has faded out. Seems to be an American thing- and nothing to do with Australians. Have a great day there. Regards. KEV.

Depends on the area, but some go pretty far out on it.

We don't get people doing much Halloween decorating out where we are, but I always enjoyed the traditional decorations. Sad to hear about your observation … I love orange, so I adore that baby blanket! I don't think we can ever go wrong talking to each other about kindness!
