Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Fitbit

Kitty that lives at the day care center in town.
Looks like he eats good.
🌼     🌼     🌼
Today it was a warm morning for walking at 50 degrees and cloudy.
I was looking forward to walking in my new shoes this morning and I did
walk in them for 2 miles, but then I felt the first drops of rain and and didn't
want to get my new shoes wet on the first day so I went home and put my old ones on
and also changed into my rain pants and slicker.  Then continued my walk.

My new shoes feel good and I am happy with them.
They are Brooks and my very first pair of walking shoes many years ago
were Brooks.  I had a hard time finding a good pair of shoes this time.
Most all the shoes have that memory foam in them and I don't like that stuff
at all.  It feels fine at first but in a couple of weeks it all gets mashed down
and I wear them out in no time.

I certainly didn't follow and route today.  It was a crazy every which
way walk all around town.
Didn't see any one else out.

Walked 6.2 miles
🌼     🌼     🌼
Yesterday I picked up a few packet of seeds for my garden this year.
Tomatoes and sunflowers I grow every year but have never tried
Brussels Sprouts.
I'm going to start these seeds inside and will buy plants already started of the
other things I'll be growing.  I'm looking forward to having a garden again.
Even if nothing much grows I still like to walk around it and look at it. 😊

We haven't gone bowling for quite a few weeks so it was nice to get back
to that today.  There were only 4 of us but we had a fun time and we all bowled
pretty good though there were no record breaking scores.

There was a young woman bowling a couple lanes over from us and her score
was 2, yes that's right a 2.

I'm sure some of you will be surprised to hear that I DID NOT like
the Fitbit and I will be returning it.
Thought I'd like wearing it on my wrist but didn't and
the font was too small and hard for me to read and I just didn't
like it.  I did wear it all day thinking I just had to get used to it
but I like my Striiv much much better.  It has nice big bold numbers
and I am going to stick with that.

It's been a rainy day and hope it stops by morning because I really
want to walk in my new shoes!!

Hopefully I'll get a little reading in tonight.
Will watch Netflix and eat some ice cream.
I'm knitting a pink afghan for myself with cotton yarn.
I started it awhile ago and the way it's going it will be finished
for next winter.

A happy day to you.

The last two money facts that I have for you.
  • There are 293 ways to make change for a dollar.  Go on - try to find them all.
  • In April 2016 the U.S. Treasury Department announced that the 7th president Andrew Jackson will cede his spot on the $20 bill to former slave and abolitionist Harriet Tubman.

Interesting about the foam in the shoes. They put that stuff in mattresses too a while back. They are not comfortable as they don't allow you to turn easily and your hip will start hurting and wake you up.

..today I walked in the rain on the beach.

Ive worn a Fitbit flex for over three years now. I love it. There is no screen on mine. I just use the app it syncs to. I enjoy the benifit of the alarms. I never use an alarm clock anymore. The Fitbit vibrates and wakes me every morning. It also vibrates and lights up when I have a text, phone call, when I need to move more and when I reach my step goal.
We had a speck of rain today but warm.

It is interesting how different we all are. I have a memory foam mattress and wouldn't change it for anything. It is so very comfortable. The new shoes look great.

We grew Brussels Sprouts one year. They took a long time to mature - we were harvesting them in November, but they were good.

Brooks have been my walking shoes for years now. We have a Brooks outlet just a freeway exit away from us and I can get the one style my feet like for a discounted price. Enjoy planning for your garden.

Kitty's sooo fluffy!!
Fresh brussel sprouts are delicious. Good luck with your seeds and have a wonderful week :)

I know that you will enjoy your gardening again this year, Karen. Carroll does the majority of the vegetable gardening, but I do love working in my flower gardens.

Hope you get to wear your new shoes today (Wednesday). We are having sunshine, with no rain in the forecast for today. Hope yours is the same.

I'm still not certain how I feel about Harriet Tubman replacing Mr. Jackson on the $20 bill.

I don't know that I have ever seen a cat on your blog Karen! Very lovely cat, well taken care of.
Nice new walking shoes. I purchased a pair a few weeks ago but I don't want to wear them until the weather improves either!
I've never grown brussels Sprouts by seed always by started plants. As "The Furry Gnome" states they do take a while to mature but you could have them fresh until Christmas. We did a few years!
Too bad about your Fitbit. I don't wear any sort of device to record my steps.
Have a good day!

What a lovely big fluffy cat! He looks quite at ease there!
My husband just bought Brooks as his podiatrist recommended them and he finds them very supportive and comfortable.
I just use the Strava app on my phone to record my walks and the health app on the iPhone link together.
Have a lovely day!

Hello, I like your new shoes. The kitty is pretty, it does look chubby and well fed. My iphone has an app that records my steps and miles but, I do not carry my phone around with all the time. I would like to plant the sunflower seeds and tomatoes. Enjoy and have a happy day!

That does look like a well fed kitty.
I like the two toned soles on your new shoes. Interesting to know about the memory foam wearing out so soon.
I can imagine by now you have become used to the Striv and it would be odd to change things up at this point.

That kitty is so cute!
I'm excited about your garden, too!

I think that if you like and are used to the Striv, then a Fitbit wouldn't be very helpful. I would need bigger font as well. I hope you have good success with your garden. I like Brussel's sprouts.I hope yours grow well. Have a great day.

Nice shoes! I am looking forward to the garden that my son always plants...he will plant things in it just for his mama :) Brussels sprouts sound like a good suggestion this year since I have recently learned I like them! Have a good one!

That looks like a much loved cat. Glad you've got shoes that suit you. I got so fed up with trying on shoes from the company that makes wider fittings - only one pair out of 6 fitted properly, that I'm going to wait until we drive up country and can visit their shop. I heard on a BBC consumer program that the Fitbit was not at all accurate. We love our memory foam mattress and if one of us is tossing and turning the other isn't affected. It felt like we were sleeping on a bouncy castle when we went to stay with our son and had a 'normal' mattress.

Since Andrew Jackson hated the 2nd bank of the United States (The Fed Reserve of his time) I don't think he wanted to be on the bill anyway

Fluffy kitty. Some of that size may be fur! I am sure that is the kitty's story and he/she is sticking to it.

I switched from Striiv to Fitbit several years ago and I am a totally dedicated Fitbit user. Love the various types and the things it monitors beyond steps. But everyone has their favorites - and after all - it is all about getting active - and you have that NAILED!!

Lovely picture of kitty.

I'm pleased your new shoes felt good and that you are happy with them.

All the best Jan

PS Your seeds look a good choice - happy growing!

I read that you had returned the Fitbit and had to read all the way back here to find out why! If only I weren't so nosy. Also interesting your take on memory foam and now I'm wondering if that is true on all memory foam products from shoes to mattresses. Sorry that winter has come back with such a fierceness and hope that this is its last hurrah. March has been the coldest, most bitter of all the winter months.

That is one fluffy kitty! I got a new pair of walking shoes not too long ago, also Brooks. I haven't worn them much yet, but they seem quite comfortable. I've not had them before. 2 sounds like a bowling score I might have had at one time. (probably still would)
