Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Some snow

A snowy walk
Snowing like crazy when I got up and decided to walk later after breakfast.
Waited till the snow let up a bit and then left at 10:00.
It was 23 degrees and windy.
I wore my hiking boots because I needed a bit more height on my ankles
than my snow sneakers.  I should have put on my ice grippers but
I thought the snow wouldn't be slippery.
There weren't many places to walk.
The main street had too many snow plows going by.
The cemeteries and ball park weren't cleared and were too deep to walk in.
So I walked were I could but it was VERY slippery.
I fell twice (didn't get hurt) and almost fell a few more times.
So I went back home.
Not a great day for walking but at least I got 3 miles in.
Better than nothing.

Finished the round puzzle. (400 pieces)
This one will definitely go in the trash, 8 pieces missing.
Ken usually buys me a couple puzzles for Christmas but this year he said he
wasn't going to because he got so many at the auction,
but he got me a new one anyway and I started it today.
It's a 1000 piece one of the inside of an old bookstore.  Really Nice!

I took down all the Christmas decorations this afternoon.
Every year I try to wait until New Years Day but hardly ever make it.

It's been snowing on and off all day and we've stayed home all day.
Made pizza for supper.  Seemed like a good day for it.

A happy day to you.

It certainly looks a lot of snow. I think you did well to get a 3 mile walk done.

Shame about the puzzles missing pieces, I like the look of a round puzzle, I don't think I've ever done one ... mine were all square or rectangular

All the best Jan

It was a brutal day here for snow. I must wear my grips all the time now as it is so slippery...so much ice under the snow. Finally, had to give up and call a plowman. I'd still be out there at this hour otherwise. You are tenacious getting in your walking or much of it in spite of slippery weather. Was that puzzle with eight pieces missing one from the flea market? I hope it wasn't new! Your new one sounds cozy.

Hope it stops snowing enough for you to get a good walk in tomorrow.
Happy New Year to you and Ken.

Wow, it looks like a lot of snow there. I am glad you were not hurt from the falls. The puzzle looks pretty, what a shame some pieces were missing. I am going to have pizza today, YUM! Happy weekend! I wish you all the best in 2017 and a very Happy New Year!

I'm glad you weren't hurt when you fell. The snow is beautiful! I am waiting patiently (kind of!) for snow here in southern Maryland. Have a wonderful week, and stay safe out there!

Hi Happyone, As the year draws to a close I just wanted to thank you for sharing your photography and thoughts in your 2016 posts. It’s been a pleasure following you and I’m looking forward to seeing what you’ll be posting in 2017. When it comes to taking walks, and sharing photos taken along the way, your blog is one of the best I’ve found. Thank you, as always, for sharing and for your kind comments left on my blog. Happy New Year to you and Ken. PS Love the snowy walk photo!

HI Karen - I love looking at the snow, but walking in it is another issue. We will be moving to a snowy place eventually so that may take some getting used to. I am glad you kept walking and glad you didn't get hurt when you fell. Be careful out there! A puzzle with pieces missing is kind of a disappointment, and I have thrown away puzzles like that as well. I hope you will post a picture of the bookstore puzzle you just started. That sounds really nice. Hope your have a great New Year's Eve and a very, very happy 2017!

Hi Karen, we ended up having a very slippery walk yesterday too.as Deb said be careful. Chuck and I walk together so I hang onto him while we walk. He is a little steadier on his feet than I am.
Nice puzzle but too bad it is missing eight prices! Enjoy your new one.
We received about an inch of snow this morning so we were still able to go out and do a few errands.
Take care!
