Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A dog adventure

Thanks to Gosia for taking over the Good Fences meme.
Took these picture last week a day apart.
Actually they were taken on the same days that I took the other two bird house
pictures.  I saved these two for today because there was a fence in the picture.

35 degrees this morning and no rain and no wind, just cloudy.
Started my walking going on the couple of roads behind my house.  Then a loop around town and the cemeteries.

It has been so warm here the last few days and I noticed this morning
that this forsythia is starting to bloom.  That's not the sun.  The flash went
off on my camera.
Kathy was back to walking this morning and we stopped for a chat.
Her son was visiting the last couple of days too.

Had a bit of adventure on the next part of my walk.
Walked over to the ball park loop and was going to walk around there
but just got a little way down the path when a dog came running at me.
It was a mid size dog and looked to be part beagle and some kind of terrier.
It had a collar and tags so it must have escaped home.
Now, I'm not afraid of dogs and can read them pretty good and I knew this one
was not playing around and I was pretty scared.
Thought for sure I was going to get bit.
As it ran at me, barking, teeth showing I stopped.
Didn't look it in the eye and slowly started backing up.
He would run around circling me and those teeth were getting
pretty close to me and I just turned too and kept backing up slowly.
Finally I made it to the street and some cars were coming
which scared the dog and he ran off.
I wanted to get home then but the dog ran in the direction of my house
and I didn't want to meet up it with again,
So I walked the other way through town and down toward HT.
Called Ken and he came and picked up me and that ended my walk.
I'd rather have those goats following me again.  😊
I'm sure the dog is now back home and won't be around tomorrow,
but I just might take a big stick with me just in case.

As a result my walk got cut a little short today at 5.5 miles.
Added up the found coins for this month and the
total was 31 cents. 💰
2 dimes and 11 pennies
👟     👟     👟
We went out for a couple of hours today and did a few errands.
Back home this afternoon, did a few things around the house
worked on puzzle number 3 for a while.  (too much time really)

Read some too and will finish my book later.

Didn't go out yesterday for dinner with that found money after all.
Decided I'll do a little Christmas shopping with it.

A happy day to you.

Robin - No, won't be seeing any family for Christmas.  Everyone lives too far away.

Oh scary dog encounter ! I had a dog run at me on my bicycle & thought it would pull me off but I just escaped it's teeth! You did the right thing.

Karen, oh my goodness thankfully you are alright! I worry about you walking all on your own. I think you should bring some sort of stick! We have had a few encounters with dogs over the years too. No fun.
I am sorry you won't be seeing any family at Christmas. It will be just Chuck and I too as my Mum is going away with my brother and his wife.
Lovely to see the forsythia blooming!
Be careful tomorrow!

Yikes! I would have been frightened of that dog's teeth, too! I'm glad you knew what to do!

I didn't do a good fences post this week so I'll have to get back in the swing of things next week! I'm glad you got home safely. I carry a phone when I walk now and have had to call hubby to come get me once. It's good to know you can! Hugs!

Hello, people should keep their dogs in their own yards. I am glad it did not bite you, but it did sound scary. Carrying a stick would be a good idea. Love the frosty fence scene. Enjoy your day and a happy weekend ahead!

That dog encounter sounded scary. A stick sounds like a good idea or do they make anti-dog sprays? I lost all my favourites when I switched browser and when I searched for "Life is Good" there were a number of blogs but "Happyone" found you. Hope it doesn't get too cold your way.

So glad to hear that the dog encounter had a good outcome. That must have been very scary.
How unusual to see a forsythia in bloom in December.
Have a nice weekend.

Glad that it ended well. Angry dogs on the loose are very scary. We had a terrible encounter with our neighbor's dog on Christmas Day last year. Very unpleasant and involved the whole family. Perhaps you can learn where he lives.

That blooming forsythia is most interesting and in for a big shock. My mums are still very happy and even the million bells are still alive...no flowers, but alive.

OK, now I am understanding the mace. Good idea. I like dogs a lot but they can be dangerous. The owner needs to have this one under control at all times. What if he attacks a child? Any way you can talk to them? Sorry you won't see the kids and grandkids at Christmas.
