Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A cold day

Picture taken a few days ago on a morning walk.
🎄     🎄     🎄
Didn't even try walking this morning.
It was 3 degrees and just a bit too cold for me.
It's been a cloudy dreary day all day.

I've been home all day and didn't get a whole lot of stuff done.
Planned on getting some housework done but never got around to it.

Finished the book I was reading,
Black Chalk by Christopher J Yates
Six college kids make up a game and the losers have
consequences they must do.  It escalates and gets out of hand.
Sounds better than it is.  I didn't really like it.
Read it through because I wanted to see how it ended.
It was a book club selection but then was taken off the list because
a couple of people besides me read it and didn't like it either.
So we picked a different book for January.

Worked on the next puzzle a bit too.
Number 7

The only thing that did get done was some laundry.

Supposed to get freezing rain over night so it might be another day
of no walking.

I managed to get my goal of 13,000 steps in today by walking around
the house.  Every so often I would just take off and walk 500 steps
at a time.

Hope your day was a happy one.

Jedidja - I have a couple different patterns of baby blankets that I knit.  Also make some with weave-it squares.  The other women make the blankets out of two pieces of fleece tied with knots.  I didn't care for making the fleece ones so just do my own thing.  : )

And the joy of being kind."

Brrr...I would definitely choose to stay inside with those temps, too. Yeah for laundry getting done!

Sounds like a good day to walk inside to stay warm. I want to start a new book tonight but I'm not sure what it will be! Have a wonderful weekend! Hugs, Diane

3 degrees? That's a good reason to take the day off. Hope it warms up a little for you.

Hi Karen, they is great you still got your 13,000 steps in. In this cold we wait until later in the day to walk. Usually it does warm up enough to make it bearable.
Have a good weekend!

I see, from reading your recent posts, that you are in the grip of winter, too. Your tenacity for getting your walk in is quite remarkable. No way do I wish to walk in my house, though I am sure that there's a way if there were a will. Instead, I'll go out and clear the drive...hoping that I can stay ahead of it a bit, No way can I clear 8 inches all at once.

A day off from walking now and again is good. It was cold here too yesterday, low of 14. I did go for a nice hike. Had to keep moving to stay warm.

That is a beautiful picture that really captures the beauty of winter :)

Pretty image of the frosty berries! It does look cold! I used to feel guilty if I didn't like a book and didn't finish it - like I hadn't given it a change but not anymore. I've been eyeing some puzzles in Walmart lately. You have gotten in interested. What size should I start out with? I'm assuming that the 1000 piece ones wouldn't be good for a starter.

The red berries with a touch of snow look very festive.
