Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

My Friend Janie

 ðŸŒ¾     🌾     🌾     🌾
A few pictures from our walk along the shore line with Bernice and Chuck.
That's Atlantic City off in the distance on the other side of the bay.

A little on the chilly side this morning when I headed out for my walk.  40 degrees and I could see my breath for the first time this season.  Warmed up when the sun rose and I had a great walk.

Walked all over town on no particular route.

The street light in front of our house has burned out and when I saw Joe from town I told him about it. He said he would put an order in to get it fixed.  Another nice thing about living in a small town.

Kathy was out walking and we stopped for a little chat,
and the man with the big white dog was out walking.
Though we have stopped and talked many times I don't know his name.

I spotted a couple of rabbits hopping about the cemetery.
When I got home and walked around back to come in the house,
this blue jay was in the back yard.
He's on the feeder that we made and that is our little meadow behind him.
Walked 6.2 miles

I grew up in a town in northern NJ. Janie and Patty who are sisters and only 11 months apart moved into the new house next door when I was in the third grade. The three of us became friends and have stayed friends for all these years.  They have never moved from NJ and I've lived in so many different places yet we've never lost touch.
Patty called me with some very sad news.
Janie died on Monday.
She had fought cancer for the last 2 1/2 years and is now at peace.
I will always remember her happy smile and her good heart.
I have so many happy memories of us growing up.
 She will be missed.

I baked pumpkin muffins this morning.
They are for tomorrow evening when I go to the Ladies Fall Fellowship
that we every year at church.

It was a beautiful cool sunny day, a perfect laundry day so I got
a couple of loads of laundry done and hung out on the line.

Did some more weeding in the gardens too,
trying to get things ready before winter so when spring comes
there won't be so much to do.

A few pictures this afternoon while I was out in the yard.
One last daisy
A female goldfinch sits on a sunflower leaf
wondering what happened to the sunflower.
Her and a couple of friends have a drink.
That's it for today.
A happy day to you.

I am sorry to hear about your friend, Janie. It's nice that you have kept in touch throughout your moves.
I enjoyed all of your bird photos today, especially the blue jay. We don't see them very often around here.

Always interested in the happenings around your town. Janie sounds like a good soul and I know she will be missed by you and her sister for quite some time. Life changes. Sometimes we wish it wouldn't, but all we can do is go with it.

My condolences on the death of your friend. It is remarkable that the three of you stayed friends through all of the time and all of the moves. May she rest in eternal peace.
