Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Barnegat Lighthouse on Long Beach Island, New Jersey
 ðŸ‘£     👣     👣     👣
A lot warmer than yesterday morning at 54 degrees.  It was a cloudy morning with a slight breeze blowing.

Walked first to Public Works and dropped off the water bill down the slot and then over to the post office to mail a letter.

Continued my walk up around the streets behind my house and then around town.  Went around both cemeteries, the ball park loop and a ways up Barn Sale Rd, back through town and home.

Stopped again for a little chat with Kathy and she was the only
other person I saw out walking.

A couple of rabbits were around and all those black birds are still around the town pond.  There seems to be more each day, like they are gathering there before heading off to warmer places.

An interesting mushroom of some kind looks like a large marshmallow.
Walked 6.4 miles

Sunny in the morning and got more laundry done and up on the line.
Too nice to stay inside so did a little more weeding.
After lunch it had clouded up and we had a brief shower so I went inside and
finished the latest Weave-it baby blanket.
Then started another blanket.  Not a weave-it one this time
but a knitted one.  Three colors, light mint green, yellow and white.
Will post a picture once I have a bit more done.

Leaving in a little while for the ladies fellowship
with my pumpkin muffins in hand.

A happy day to you.

"During my second year of nursing school our professor gave us a quiz.
I breezed through the questions until I read the last one:
"What is the first name of the woman who cleans the school?"
Surely this was a joke.
I had seen the cleaning woman several times,
but how would I know her name?
I handed in my paper leaving the last question blank.
Before the class ended,
one student asked if the last question would count toward our grade.
"Absolutely," the professor said.
"In your careers, you will meet many people.
All significant.  They deserve your attention and care,
even if all you do is smile and say hello."
I've never forgotten that lesson.
I also learned her name was Dorothy."

Pam - Yes, Maggie is a Labradoodle.  I think she looks like a wolfhound.  What a great dog she is and I wanted to take her home with me.

Beautiful lighthouse. I bet your walks are beginning to get colorful with all the leaves turning. I've been quite lazy and haven't been walking...gotta get back to it...soon!!!

This is a lovely lighthouse, with very classic colors.

I think the mushroom may be a puffball (or not). Lovely autumn colours and a sweet baby blanket. I'm looking forward to seeing the next project :)

I'm really glad I'm on well-water. It doesn't cost me a dime. I don't miss being on city water

Now that is an important lesson and a great question to be included on the quiz.
As I've never been to NJ, I am enjoying these little glimpses. The lighthouse is particularly pretty.
Pumpkin muffins... yum!!

Hello, I recognize Barnegat Lighthouse right away. I have been there many times checking out the sea birds. We are not seeing many fall colors here. The blanket is cute. Have a happy day and weekend!

Hi Karen, I am just catching up after having Kim here for a couple days. Looks like you had a wonderful time in N.J. We all need some time with friends don't we? Wonderful story at the end of your post. Every single person is important whether the president or the janitor!
