Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Wednesday

The beetle is a Red Milkweed Beetle
✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
Chris's back surgery was postponed until early tomorrow morning.
✿     ✿     ✿     ✿
It was a cloudy morning today when I walked and the temperature was 67 degrees.
A little bit of a breeze.

Walked up the roads behind my house and then around the ball park loop and the two cemeteries.  Walked a little ways up Barn Sale Rd.
This is another little cemetery I walk past some days which is just on the side of the road.  Some very old tombstones and hard to make out the names and dates on them.
Pretty quiet around town.  Didn't see anyone else out and even the cows were far up in the field and didn't bother to come down to see me.

Walked 6.4 miles.
Sunrise 6:19
Sunset 8:27

I did a little more dead heading of the daisies this morning.  With so many daisies around the yard that is no small task.  But it is easy work and today it was a nice cool summer day with a breeze.  Very nice!!

In the afternoon I went with Ken to have the car serviced.
We walked around for a while looking at the new cars and then settled down in the lounge to wait for the car.  It was a pretty nice place with comfortable chairs.
I finished reading my book for next weeks book club meeting.
It was A spool of Blue Thread by Anne Tyler.
Book was good but nothing special.

Hope your day was a happy one.

We have a cemetery on one of our walks too. Very interesting headstones from the 1800's.
I tend to bring a book when I take one of our cars in for servicing. They always seem to have the T.V. blaring so I find a quiet corner to read.
Have a good day Karen!

I think old cemeteries are so interesting. St Augustine as one with ancient tombstones. Pretty plant but that is an interesting bug. Praying for Chris and his back surgery. Have a blessed day.

There are actually two of them, but you can only see part of the other one and it is hard to spot.

There are 4 cemeteries I pass. There are more dead people in town than alive ones. : )
I always take a book too. The TV was turned off there!!

I love walking through old cemeteries. I'll do a little research and see if I can find out what kind of bug that is.
Thank you for the prayers.

Love the photo of the beetle and the milkweed. Milkweed is so important if we are going to keep having monarch butterflies. Good luck to your friend Chris.

There are quite a lot of milkweed around the farm loop.
Chris is my step-brother. : ) Nice to be back in touch with him again.

One of my milkweed plants has a TON of those beetles on it. I read an excerpt of that book a while back, and wondered what the story was about.
