Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Moving the raised beds

✿      ✿     ✿     ✿

It was a cloudy morning with no breeze and the temperature was a cool 58 degrees.  Lovely walking weather.  I wore a long sleeve shirt which I haven't needed for quite a while.

Started my walking going over to the laundromat and putting up a flyer for a church activity on the bulletin board there.
Then on to the post office to put one up there also.

Walked around town.  Up and down all the streets and the two cemeteries and the ball park loop.  Walked a little way down the main road towards HT, turned around and walked back home.

The man walking his two barking dogs was out and also saw Kathy.

Walked 6.2 miles.
Nearing home I was thinking how blessed I am that at 65 years old I can still walk 6 miles every morning like it was nothing.  I am so thankful. : )

Yesterday we had a new visitor at the bird feeders. I'm pretty sure it is a red tailed hawk.  Sorry for the poor picture but it was taken from inside the house through a screen and zoomed in.

Still have zucchini we are trying to use up.  Yesterday we had some for dinner.  I roasted up some potatoes with the zucchini and had chicken along with it.  I thought it made for nice picture.

This morning Ken worked on the lawn mower that I broke on Saturday.
I helped some and we got the bent hook straightened and the deck back on
but then it wouldn't start.
Ken is very good at fixing things but this just had him stumped.
So we had to bring it down the road to the hardware store and have it looked at.
Hope it can be fixed for a reasonable price.

Since the tractor was here at the house Ken moved the two high raised gardens.
No harm was done to the tomatoes during the making of this picture. : )

When they were done being moved this is where they ended up.
Where you see dirt to the right for now we are going to fill
in with more crushed rock.
But eventually we will extend the water feature to there.
Not this year though.
Sometime in the future.
The weather was delightful today.
The clouds gave way to sunshine
and it was in the low 70's.

After supper I went out front and weeded for an hour in the daisy garden.
Still a few daisies blooming but not many.
Always a bit sad when they end.
But next year they will be back and there will be more of them.
: )

Hope your day was a happy one.

A trivia question for you about the constitution.
How many times is the word democracy used?
Answer tomorrow.

In answer to your trivia question, I am guessing it is never used, since our country was originally founded as a republic (governed by the rule of law) rather than a democracy (governed by the rule of the majority). Technically perhaps a democratic republic would be more correct since the majority does make the laws which govern...and today maybe a judiciary democratic republic would be even more correct since our courts can overrule the laws created by the majority. Hmmm...I will confuse myself before I'm done here. But I think you may have asked a trick question, so I had it coming. ;)

Ok, now on to what I was actually going to comment about your post before I noticed that question. Your chicken and potatoes look *delicious*! I'm almost wishing I could have a bite. I would skip on the zucchini though--glad you enjoyed it.

The hawk looks like he may be looking for a different type of dinner than most birds enjoy at your feeder. He is a handsome fellow. We always are on our toes when we see hawks around here, as we have chickens. So far we've never had one taken by a hawk, but we've heard too many stories!

Enjoyed your photos of the bean field and cemetery. I always enjoy walking through cemeteries; they are so peaceful. Sometimes on my way home I intentionally take the slower route just so I can drive by a certain cemetery.

Neat how your gardens can just be moved like that! Re-locating ours would not be nearly as easy! Glad the tomatoes survived.

Many of my flowers are starting to fade as well. I agree, it's sad to see them going (And summer going with them). But my cannas are just starting to bloom, and with them comes the promise of the yearly hummingbird visit, so I still have something to look forward to! Have a great evening!

Sounds like a wonderful day! Yes, it is awesome that you can walk that far at age 65. I worked in the yard all day. It was just nice temps until late afternoon it got too hot and I quit. I too feel bless that I can do that at age 63. :) I have been harvesting and using a lot from my garden. Tonight I made foil dinners with chicken. I added carrots, yellow squash, zucchini, peppers, and a potatoe to them for the veggies. Topped them with some fresh rosemary and they were yummy.
hugs,
Jann

Looks like Ken is having great fun moving your raised beds!
How wonderful to have a Hawk come visit your bird table. Prunella would be falling over herself to get a photo like yours!!
Have a brilliant day and keep on walking :)

You are not 65!! Seriously!! I was thinking 35 maybe and I'm serious! You guys are always working. Reminds me of myself. :) I tear up lawn mowers too, in fact, the back wheels came off my last little mower. I wear them out!

The word democracy shows up just as much as the word God in the United State Constitution, zero times. But to be honest democracy is a rather vague term when it comes to people's mindsets. Not everyone thinks the strict definition when they hear the word. A true democracy wouldn't require a president, congress, governor or state house. But even the most low IQ people know we have all of those in our country
