This nest is about 2 inches across.

Walked the Farm Loop. Those silly goats were once again on the porch.
Some workers were out along the road fixing a water problem. One side of the road was closed so they had a flagman. What a boring job that must be with hardly any cars driving by.
Spotted a bunch of wild turkey's along the way. Got a picture of these three before they followed the others back into the woods.
Once back in town I made a loop around the ball park where I saw Kathy and then a quick loop around town before heading back home.
Walked 6.2 miles.

Right after breakfast we loaded our kayaks in the back of the pickup and drove to Jennings Randolph Lake for a few hours of paddling. One side is in Maryland and the other in West Virginia. We put the kayaks in at the wide part of the lake and paddled until we got to the narrow part. We were going up river against the wind and it was pretty rough going at times, especially in the wide open part but it was a beautiful sunny day and so nice to be out on the water. It got easier when we got to the narrow part. Pillars from an old bridge up ahead.
Once we got to these rocks in the river it got shallow and we got stuck on the rocks a couple of times. Or rather I got stuck. Ken seemed to do a bit better than me. : )
Spotted a heron and a picture of him on the rocks. He didn't stay put in one place for long so I was happy to get this picture.
We are turned around when there were just too many rocks and here we are on the way back when I took this picture.
On the way back it clouded up and looked like a storm was brewing. There was thunder in the distance and we quickly headed back. We were over an hour away from where we put in so it was quite a paddle back. Didn't know I could get that kayak moving as fast as it did. : ) We stayed along the coast line in case the storm came and we needed to get out of the water. I said a few prayers and we made it all the way back safely. Just as we rounded the last bend and just a few paddles away from shore the rain started. Got the kayaks back in the truck in the rain. Once in the truck we saw the lightening. A bit of an adventure today! It didn't even look like it rained by our house when we got back home. Ken went up to Happy Trails for a little while but I stayed home. It was nice for me to just sit on the front porch and read.
Hope your day was a happy one.
happyone : )

Sounds like a bit of an adrenalin rush with a storm on the horizon.
Wow, you had a great day! Gorgeous photos Karen. Glad you made it back before the rain started. Love the quote. My Dad always said " If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all."
Brrr ... that is a scary adventure!
What an exciting day! I LOVE your quote - that's a quote I need to remember!
It was. We got some good exercise. : )
It was the first time this year that we got out with the kayaks. Nice to get back out there. : )
But fun too. : )
Hope to get out more often with the kayaks. It is enjoyable.
It's a quote I think that we could all keep in mind. : )
sounds like scary fun! I think those rocks are beautiful. I want to kayak sometime but we have no waters near to enjoy. My husband is not big on water sports so the likely of me getting to do this is minimal.

Nice wildlife and kayaking scenery photos! Glad you had a good day on the water. Yeah, not wanting to get electrocuted can be a powerful motivation in getting one moving!
Beautiful photo shots during your kayak adventure! I love to see the wilderness. Glad you got back before the lightening.
That does sound like an adventure! Racing a storm usually is. I wondered if you and Ken had sold your kayaks since I haven't read too much about your kayaking adventures. Glad that you are still kayaking!
I am so glad that you had a chance to get your kayaks in the water. That looks like a wonderful spot for it. I am also, very happy that you got back before the storm. The water is no place to be in a storm.
God bless.
Connie :)
P.S. Gorgeous photos . . . it is so nice that you take your camera with you and share your adventures and walks :)
Love the photo of the heron. Great shot! I'm glad y'all had fun kayaking, and even more glad that you got back safely!
Hi There, Wow---what an adventure... Once when George and I were hiking WAY up in the mountains, a 'surprise' storm came ---and we were STUCK. We tried to stay as dry as possible under some trees --but it was fierce for awhile and POURING (with lightning and thunder all around)... Talk about PRAYING.... Scared me to death... We protected our camera equipment --but when we finally were able to hike back down that mountain --the trail was extremely muddy and slick.... VERY VERY scary. That is the worst storm situation we have ever been in.... NOT one I want to go through again for sure!!!! ha
Hugs,
Betsy
Sounds like a really, really good day.
We are fortunate in that there are a lot of places for kayaking around here. It is such a peaceful thing to do, just paddling around. I'm sure you'd love it.
Looking forward to getting back there again. Maybe have a more leisurely paddle. : )
We really enjoy the kayaks. We have quite a few places where we can go and not many people around either.
We don't get out there nearly as much as we would like. Just so many great things to do and just not enough time to do it all. : )
We would like to get out there with the kayaks more than we do. There are quite a few places to go around here.
You won't catch me many places without my camera. : )
Haven't seen a heron lately so it was really nice to see this one.
Glad you got down the mountain safely after that storm. That does sound scary.
It sure was. : )
Glad you enjoyed the kayaking and so pleased you got back ok, with storms around care must always be taken
All the best Jan
I've never kayaked before, but I have been in a white water raft
Great adventure! A paddle is always nice.
What an exciting life! Amazing day adventure and such lovely photos. I would be frightened that I would end up upside down!!
Your life....so peaceful, yet adventurous. I find myself a bit envious. Happy Thursday to you.
That does sound like an adventure! I've been tubing/canoeing many times in the mountains of WV and of NC. I love being low in the water like that, between the steep mountains on either side. So beautiful and peaceful. So glad you both went!
