Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.

Rained again last night and stopped by morning so the plants got a nice watering again and I'm sure all the farmers are happy.

It was 61 degrees and cloudy when I walked.  Took along my umbrella just in case but didn't need it.  The sun came out later in the morning.

Walked the Farm Loop.  The cows here are in a small pasture that is right where I turn down to walk the farm loop.  During the winter they are kept in the barn.  There is another one off to the right who didn't make it into the picture.  They were all sleeping and I woke them up as I walked by.
The roads around here are getting new lines painted.  It makes me smile to see a double yellow line on this road when so few cars travel this road between the farms.
Walking past the dairy farm I noticed they now have a couple of pigs. They were in the front pasture and all the cows were out back.  Picture not so good because I had to zoom in quite a ways.  Wasn't sure what they were at first.
Made a loop around town too to make up the rest of my miles.  Once again Kathy was out walking.

I saw quite a few rabbits again and two of them were tiny little things.  Must have just left the nest.  They were quick on their feet though and disappeared into the high grass.

Walked 6.3 miles.

This morning, got some chili going in the slow cooker, made corn bread and baked some chocolate chip cookies.

After lunch I went outside to get some more yard work done.  Transplanted a few things, weeded and mowed the lawn.

Having visitors arriving around 6:00 this evening - my son David and his girlfriend Hannah and her little girl Charlotte.  It will be the first time meeting Hannah and Charlotte.
Want to get this posted before they arrive.  Think I'll go sit on the front porch for a while.

Hope your day has been a happy one.

  6. Double yellow lines running down the centre of a road like that just yells USA to me - like something from the movies!
What a large pig - that one must be a rare breed.
Hope you all enjoy a lovely visit!

  16. Okay. The quote is particularly apt for me today as I have been fighting the garden pests, both insects and mammals. Maddening! But that's because I have been thinking I'm in charge.

That pig is quite unique. He really is a rotund little fellow.

Happy times with your son and guests!

  18. I hope you had a good time with your visitors. I like the piggy, looks like a Vietnamese pot bellied pig. The sort people buy as a cute house pet until they grow far too pig. Saw a very odd pig on a 'vet' programme the other day - a woolly pig. Check it out, it's bound to make you smile. What do the double yellow lines mean? Here in the UK yellow lines are at the side of the road to indicate no parking, double yellow means never, ever. A solid white line in the centre of the road would mean no overtaking while a broken line just means this road has 2 sides. None of our back roads have any lines.
