Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.

Inside and outside

The last of the New York pictures.
This was taken in the town of North Creek.
Ken, Chris and I ate lunch near here at a picnic table.

56 degrees this morning with a mix of sun and clouds as I headed out on my morning walk.

Stopped in at the post office and the laundromat and tacked up a couple of flyers for some upcoming church events.

Then continued my walk around the Farm Loop.  Lots of pretty wild flowers line the edge of the road as I walk along.

A few of the young cows were out at the dairy farm in the front field, the older ones looked to be in the far field.

Farmer Bill was out in his field by the edge of the road and stopped to say good morning to me.  Then at the next farm, Farmer Georg's rows of corn have sprouted this last week while I've been away.
A couple of deer ran across the street and a ground hog hurried across the road and ran down into his home on the edge of a hill.

Once back to town I made a quick loop around town and then headed back home.
Walked 6.2 miles.

Did some inside work in the morning.  Another nice day so got a couple more loads of laundry out on the line and I am now caught up with laundry.  A few other chores inside and then I was outside weeding.  Ken spent a good part of the day with the weed wacker, here at the house and up at Happy Trails.

Didn't feel like cooking supper so we hopped in the truck and went to Little Caesar's for a pizza.
Enjoying another evening at home. : )
A happy day to you.

Though it was sad for us to have my step-dad start his new life in heaven some good things have happened too.  My step-brother Chris and his family and I have reconnected.  Aunt Betty (dad's sister) has come to know Jesus as her Savior, and we have made two new good friends, Vicki and George.  : )

Friends are those rare people who ask how you are
and then wait for the answer.

  1. Hi Karen ~ glad you are safely home and that you are seeing the good in what you have just gone through. God can turn negative things into positive things. I know we won't be able to get together and meet up this year, but I am sure I will be out again. This trip I am focused on helping my daughter with her family as my grandson gets treatment for cancer. You sure do live in a beautiful state! I love all the greenery!

  4. So good to hear that some healing has come in the midst of a sad time. I may have asked you this already...(smile) but what area of NY were you in? I grew up in Cobleskill, near Albany and Schenectady.
