I dropped off a library book down the book slot and then walked through town down towards HT, turned around and walked around town.
Peggy was out walking and so was the woman walking her daughters dog. The dog is quite a barker!!! I don't think he likes me.
Walked 6.3 miles.

The sun came out again which was nice because I had to drive to church for Baby Blanket day. On the way home though it rained so my car did not stay very clean. The sun came out once again and by the time I got home my car was dry.There were 9 of us making baby blankets.
This is one that Marilyn is working on.
Here is a tote filled with blankets that the others have made and ready to go to the hospital.
While we were busy with the blankets, Caroline's husband Edd came in and asked if any of us would like some parsnips that he just dug out of the ground. Me and a few others said yes, so I came home with these. They look like big white carrots!!

Linda - Sky lights are a great idea for making the kitchen brighter but painting the cabinets will be a lot cheaper. : )

How wonderful that you have so many blankets! I actually have some parsnips here that I have been meaning to cook. They are part of a vegan split pea soup recipe that I will make in the next few days. Also, I've roasted them along with other root vegetables - even rutabaga! Carrots, beets, etc. are good for this. One Thanksgiving, I used carrots and parsnips in the bottom of the pan as a rack for the turkey!
Those blankets are sweet!!!! I just sent off a box of crocheted baby hats I created for preemies and/or angel babies at the local hospitals NICU.

Parsnips are delicious! We cook them just like carrots, steamed with a little butter, salt and pepper. We even cook them together.

I love parsnips and I usually par boil them with potatoes, shake them with the potatoes in butter in the saucepan and then pop them in the oven to roast.
Also great in soups.

We love roasted parsnips with our Sunday roast dinner. I just cut into finger sized lengths & drizzle cooking oil over them & roast in a hot oven for 20-25 mins.
I love them boiled with carrots & then mashed together with some butter.

The baby blankets look so soft.
I made parsnips once several years ago and was surprised to find that I liked them. I had never had them before so they weren't familiar to me. I think they were part of a recipe that I made and they were roasted. I don't know why I haven't made them since, but now that you have reminded me I think I'll pick some up next time I'm at the grocery store. I would be thrilled to have some fresh from the garden.

Hope that your parsnips are sweet and delicious. They should be having been allowed to overwinter in the ground. Your neighbor is very thoughtful. You ladies are doing such good things for the hospital nursery. Did you say that every new baby gets a blanket?
