Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Snow has finally arrived

☃     ☃     ☃     ☃
Winter and snow has finally arrived around here. This morning it was 24 degrees and snow was falling and there was a bit of a wind as I went out the door at 6:50 to take my walk.

Walked around town and it seemed busy this morning.  Someone was out shoveling snow, the snow plows were out, kids at the bus stops enjoying the snow and a few people out walking dogs.

Walked my town route and then added to it just a bit.  I enjoyed walking in the snow.  I wore my hiking boots and my feet stayed dry.  I had lots of layers on so stayed warm.  3 layers on the bottom, 2 pairs of socks, and 5 top layers - turtle neck, tee shirt, sweat shirt, and 2 hoodies.

Didn't see any of the animals but did see their tracks in the snow - deer, rabbits, and some small animal.

I walked 6 miles.

The kids and their parent enjoyed looking at the trains yesterday.  They were here about 2 1/2 hours.  Ken made up a list of things for them to find on the layout and then they had to check them off when they found them.  It's fun and makes you have to look at the detail.
These pictures are a couple of the new scenes Ken's been working on recently.
Look at all those clothes lines.
A new house is being built and a sewer line is getting hooked up.
☃     ☃     ☃    ☃
We were hurrying last night to get home from church to see the start of Downton Abby.  Ken noticed a car coming up fast behind us.  I commented that maybe it was the police.  I no sooner got the words out of my mouth when the lights came on behind us and it WAS the police.  We pulled over and the office asked us where we were going and Ken told him home from church and I piped in with, "We were trying to get home to watch Downton Abby."  He smiled and let us off with a warning. : )  We got home 2 minutes after 9 so just missed a couple of minutes.

Here's what it looked like out of our front and back windows this morning.

There was a couple of times we saw some sunshine in between the snow but it has stayed cold and is down in the teens now.

Made a good start on this weeks house work.
That second jigsaw puzzle has been calling to me since I finished the last one so got it started today.  This one is a 1000 pieces and so far I've got all the pieces laid out and the border done.

Half price night at Brena's so we went there for supper.

Plan on doing some reading and then starting another baby weave-it blanket while watching a Netflix.
Chocolate chip ice cream will be my choice of snack tonight.

Hope your day has been a happy one.

I guess it should go without saying, but the snow sure changed the scene! :-) Thanks for the photos. Also, thanks for the neat pics of Ken's trains. Please give him compliments from a fellow railfan! Stay warm and take care. I had to laugh about you getting pulled over on the way to Downton Abby. We watched it too and enjoyed the season opener. How about you?

Your dh does such a great job with his trains and village, it looks so real!

Wishing you and your family a most blessed andHappy New Year!.

The snow does make everything look pretty. Your police story reminds me of what happened to my son and me on Sunday. He was driving and got pulled over by the police. The Officer came to the window and handed Steve to $5.00 gift cards for a local coffee shop, wished us well and walked away. That was pretty cool.

If you are sending messages to Ken, that one was a doozie! =D

Nice policeman. Probably won't get away with that twice! LOL.

The snow looks pretty...hope that you don't get too much.

Your snow looks so pretty. It got very cold here today, but no snow.
I enlarged the train pictures to get an even closer look. Wow! How cool. I am amazed at all of the detail. The kids must have loved coming to see the set-up.
Glad to hear that your police officer recognized the importance of getting home in time for DA.

Hello, pretty snowy images and scenes. No snow here yet, thank God! I can do without any snow. You were lucky Ken did not get a speeding ticket. The train layout is awesome. Have a happy day!

What a beautiful post! When you say Ken is working on those scenes, does he actually paint them? I am one of your newer followers. Maybe I need to read more of your older post. I love how you handled the policeman. :) Oh, and I really love your last post...the Bible poem.

I'm glad you were only given a warning! The man understood! Your snow photos had me shivering but how beautiful the snow is! The train scenes are amazing. Have a great day.

Ha! That's funny that the officer gave you a warning because you had to get home to watch Downton Abbey. I watched it yesterday afternoon on PBS.org.
Snow! It's pretty! Way to go, walking 6 miles in the snow, K!

That's funny about hurrying home for Downton Abbey - but I understand completely! We love it too, but because we don't have TV, (just Neflix and Amazon prime), we are a season behind everyone else! Also I LOVE the graffiti on the security system building in Ken's train layout! Enjoy the snow. Sure hope we get some soon in our part of Maryland :)

Lovely to see the winter wonderland scenes. I hope you are nice and warm. The boys got Peter a race car driving experience day and when he does it we will find a hotel to stay in as Vytas' flat is tiny. But I will be spending the day with Sally visiting Highclere castle where they film Downton Abbey. I watched the Christmas special which I think is the final episode. (Or will they carry on?)

I've always enjoyed Dave Barry's humor. I can't imagine the work that goes into a model railroad set-up. Very nice! You got a lot of snow. We had a dusting this morning, but lots of wind and now it's gone.

We had our first real cold weather yesterday and today. No snow, but a lot of cold winds.

What beautiful photos of the snow! I love walking in the snow too (esp. if it's level). I love the sound and feel of snow underfoot, and I adore the utter quiet and peace over a forest when it's snowed. Makes me miss WVa. Your hubby's train set up is just amazing! I bet the kids love studying it.
