Stopped at the overlook today
on the way home from Grantsville this afternoon
and took this picture.
It's about 3 miles up the road from our house.

Another very cold morning so no outside walking for me. Back down to the basement for my walk. I go down the first thing in the morning just as if I was walking outside. This morning I walked 4 miles and then in the afternoon I walked another 2 miles.I have 6 piles of blocks with 4 in each pile. One block represents 500 steps and after every 500 steps I move a block and when a pile is done I have walked 1 mile. Here I've walked 4 miles with 2 left to go. It seems to go by faster if I do it this way. I have tried walked on a treadmill and just don't like it. This works best for me if I can't go outside.

I made some bread this morning and put some chicken in the slow cooker for Chicken Noodle Soup for supper tonight.Did a few things around the house and then we went out to do a few errands.
Worked on the latest puzzle a bit. Always have one out during the winter months.
Dropped off a book at the library and got the next one to read for the book club.
Not many birds around the feeders lately except for the crows which I like to watch but today a downy woodpecker stopped by.
This afternoon it started snowing again and it's still coming down - just another 3 inches or so.
The Chicken soup was a good choice for this cold winters day.
I thought I had posted the recipe before but can't seem to find it so I guess I didn't.
Chunky Chicken Noodle Soup
- 1/2 cup finely chopped carrot
- 1/4 cup finely chopped celery
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 teaspoon butter
- 6 cups chicken broth
- 1-1/2 cups cubed chicken
- 1/2 teaspoon marjoram
- 1/2 teaspoon thyme
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
- 1-1/4 cups uncooked medium egg noodles
- 1 Tablespoon parsley
Stir in broth, chicken and seasonings.
Bring to boil.
Reduce heat.
Add noodles - cook for 10 minutes.
Sprinkle with parsley
That's my day so far. We are headed out in the snow to church in just a little bit.
Hope your day was a happy one.

Leave it to you to find a good system for walking in the basement.
We've been getting a few flurries here today. I always think of soup on days like this. Yours looks and sounds delish. I'm going to copy this recipe. I'd be curious to know how you cook your chicken in the slow cooker.
I don't think I could handle walking in the basement, but I'm glad that you can. I might worry about you if you couldn't get a walk in. That chicken soup looks delicious. I've been making chicken soup since before Thanksgiving. It doesn't have some of these spices...gonna try it next time I whip some up.
We walk in the house a lot, too. We just look at our step counters, but I like your block idea.
I hope it is warm enough to walk outside soon. I just returned from a small stroll around the neighborhood and the clouds are grey. Brrrrrr.
Your soup looks SO good!
Your soup looks wonderful...and so does that slice of bread. :) After seeing the picture of the chocolate chippers that you gave to Kim last week I've been wanting some in the worst way. :) SO...I came and looked over every recipe on your blog under the recipe heading but didn't find your recipe. SO...I just used the recipe on the bag of semi-sweet Private Selection chocolate chips from Kroger. YUM! :) But mine weren't as pretty as yours. :) Stay warm and safe this weekend!
My brother once put up a bird feeder, then he took it down because he was made about squirrels getting into it.
What a pretty view, is that Wisp in the distance. Your Downy is cute, I love the woodies. The Chicken Sop sounds good on a cold day. Thanks for sharing the recipe.
Happy Thursday, have a great day!
Hi Karen, isn't it funny we both posted a photo of a downy woodpecker on the same day? I love your first photo. Gorgeous! I don't care for walking on a treadmill either. It has to be VERY cold for us not to walk outside.
Take care!
Your snowscape photo reminds me of where I grew up in upstate New York. Beautiful. Your walking inspires me. Right now I have to go easy because I have a wonky knee. I use Leslie Sansone walking tapes sometimes for variety and if it's summer here in Florida. I had a treadmill once and hated it. Boring! I copied your chicken soup recipe. Sounds delicious! Have a great day.
The soup looks scrumptious! We are expecting a Big storm to hit tomorrow morning --- 14-20 inches. I bet you guys will get a lot more than us. Stay safe :)
Our winter meal today will be stew, in the crock pot now while we wait for the snow storm.
We are enjoying some chicken noodle soup, too! Perfect for a winter day!
Great photo of the downy! Mary made chicken soup about the same time and we really enjoyed it. Yours looks great, too.
