Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Day Twenty-One of Thanks

Giving Thanks Day Post Twenty-One
Libraries

I am very thankful for public libraries.
When we move one of the first things we do
is check out the local library.
I remember walking to town to the library
at a very young age and how happy I was
to be able to pick out books to read. : )
Where else can you walk in and take whatever
books you want off the shelf and bring them home
for free!!
Not only books but
magazines
DVD's
CD's
I've been to some libraries where you can even check
out puzzles and toys.
The use of computers are also available.
Though the library here in town is quite small with not
all the books of big town libraries,
the librarians WILL find the book that you want
from another county.
The librarians here in town are friendly,
helpful and even know your name. : )

My Town Library

A happy day to you.
Happy reading.
happyone : )

It's been a long time since I used the library. I wonder if they have e-books?
I am addicted to kindle for IPad. Don't get me wrong, I have a deep love for my hardcover books but the e reader is so much easier on the eyes.
I remember the libraries in the city of Chicago when I was growing up and they had just about anything one needed. The old library in downtown Chicago was old and musty with ladders and carved ceilings, it was so cool.

I've always like libraries. My first job, part time at age 16, was at the local library.

Ah! One of my favorite things to do! I worked in libraries for several years while in high school and college, even full-time at my college library following my graduation! Love books and all that goes with them!

I love your thankful days. And libraries too! I may borrow this theme for the A to Z Challenge in April. I thought I may not participate next year since this past April was indeed the cruelest month for me. But then I thought if I find an inspiring theme, I may just do it. We have to move on, after all. So I may do 26 days of gratitude. I thank you for the inspiration.

A neighboring town has a library with easy chairs and a fireplace. I love reading there, but the only days they light the fireplace is on those bitter cold days when no one wants to be out. Our librarians are very helpful and my daughter-in-law is one of them so I have insider information.
