Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.
~Groucho Marx

A very old pumpkin

☁     ☁     ☁     ☁
50 degrees this morning and cloudy for my walk.  A mist hanging over all the ponds.

Walked all over town up and down all the street and around the cemeteries and ball park loop.

No one else out walking.  Waved to all the usual drivers that pass me every day.

This picture is of an old pumpkin that is way beyond rotten.  It was first put out in front of the bakery in town (out of business now) in October of 2013 so this is the third October it has been sitting there!!!
I had a nice walk of 5.4 miles.

Ken went up to HT right after breakfast to finish putting on the shingles around the skylight and then he went to help Ron, our HT neighbor.

I kept busy around home today though I did take a little spin in my car mid morning and later I walked over to the post office and mailed off a package to my mom.  It was just a couple of little books so I could send it media mail.  Takes longer, about a week, but it only cost $3.22.

In the morning I did laundry and cleaned bathrooms and after lunch I mowed the lawn.  Pretty sure this was the last time for that, but thought that last time too.  : )  Back inside I wrote a couple of letters and then made the pizza dough for supper.

I read while waiting for the dough to get done.  Still about a half hour to go and I'm going to to knit for the remainder of the time while waiting for Ken to come home and turn the dough into a pizza. : )

That's been my day so far and I feel like I got things accomplished and that's a good feeling. : )
Hope your day has been a good one.

  1. wow it does look lifeless for a pumpkin anyway

  2. Hi Karen, Sure like that first photo with the very slight fog on the pond. And that pumpkin is funny! Have a great weekend.

  3. It always feels good to accomplish some many things in one day. You were very busy!
    Take care.

  4. I have today (Friday) off and although I would love to go out hiking, I have a long "to do" list and hope to make progress against it. If I am lucky, I can have an hour or so to myself to at least take a nice walk. Sounds like you got a lot done.

Hello my friend.
Thanks for stopping by.
I'm hoping you will leave a comment.
Thanks. : )
