Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A long me : )

My, aren't I tall and thin with very long legs.  : )

This morning at 6:30 when I left on my walk it was 52 degrees.  Still dark but the sun eventually came out and lightened the day.

Walked first to Public Works and dropped the water bill down the slot.  Then off to the post office to mail yesterday's letters down the slot there and finally to the laundromat to hang a flyer for a church event on the bulletin board there.

Continued my walk over to the industrial park and around there a bit and then back to town around the ball park loop and one of the cemeteries.  Went down to the farm by the Drane house to see the horses.  Two of them were out today and they both came over to me when I walked to the fence.  They sniffed my hand and I then petted them and took their picture.  When I turned to leave both of the neighed.
Saw a man out walking his two little dogs who bark like crazy and growl at me every time I see them.

Lee was out riding his bike and stopped to talk.  He always gives me a couple peppermint candies.

It was a good coin day. : )  Found 2 dimes and 5 pennies.
Walked 5.6 miles.

Today we had a little outing.  We drove out to Thomas, West Virginia, which is about an hour and a half from home.  There are a few antique stores and we had a look around in them.  We thought things were pretty expensive so didn't buy anything but still it was nice to look around.
Years ago the railroad ran through town and was on the other side of the road.  A river runs along there too.
Inside one of the shops.
I spotted this sign and it made me think of my blogging friends who live in Ontario.  : )
Stopped for lunch while we were out too.  It was a nice day and one where we did NO work. : )
At home we sat out on the porch and we each ate a piece of that delicious chocolate cake.  I am glad that was the last of it because it was just too good to have in the house.

We have a bees nest in the peak of the roof on the porch.  I zoomed in to get a better look.  They haven't bothered us at all so we are just going to leave it there.  Will take it down in the winter.
In the front garden a few months ago something started growing.  At first I thought it was a weed but then thought it might be a pumpkin so I let it grow.  Sure enough it was.  Only two pumpkins made it and they are on the small side but I've put them on the porch step.
It's been another beautiful day.  Rain is predicted for tonight and with it colder weather.

Hope you enjoyed your Saturday.

...I heard a neigh.
Oh, such a brisk and melodious neigh as that was.
My very heart leaped with delight at the sound.

Vee - Yes, I'm liking these nice cool mornings.  Don't really have a favorite time of year.  I enjoy walking in all the seasons except for when it gets down in the single digits. : )  You must try that chocolate cake recipe too.  It is the best chocolate cake I've ever had.  Don't think I'll ever make my other recipes again.

Hi Karen, love all the photos! What a small world! Highway 33 is here in Trenton. I wonder how that sign made it down your way. Love your pumpkins!

Hey there... I love all the photos. I'll bet you're delighted to have pumpkins you grew yourself on the porch!
My mother used to bake that very same chocolate cake for us. It was always delicious. Now that you have reminded me I think I bake one for my friends at work.

Ha ha! Only you could eat chocolate cake and get skinnier and taller too. It must be all of that walking you do :).
With all of the hard work you and Ken do, I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed a fun day with no work for a change.
Love those two little surprise pumpkins.

My renter saw your shadow picture from a distance and thought your legs were the middle line in the road! Mary Jo

I love those pumpkins - reminds me that fall is here! Halloween coming soon! Will you carve them up as Jack-o-lanterns? I love the "outing" you had -visiting all those antique shops in another town. Hope the week ahead is a good one for you!

That's the best selfie yet! You should be able to outrun those barking dogs with those legs. ;)

You need to seriously gain some weight, Happy-K!!! ;^) Ha, ha! Be careful about the wasps, they can get especially aggressive this time of year because they instinctively know that they can't afford any interruptions with winter coming on.

Bake another chocolate cake, quick! =D

The next time I bake a cake, I'll give the recipe a try. I seldom bake cake...baked cookies today. But based on your stellar recommendation, I'm very tempted.
