Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Visiting with Mom and Dad : )

We left early Monday morning and with a few stops along the way, 11 hours later we pulled up at Mom and Dad's house.  It was a beautiful sunny day.  They were out sitting on the screened in porch and we joined them there.  So good to see them!! : )  Mom looking happy and well. : )  Loaded up their freezer with the food we brought them (they were very thankful and I was very happy to put smiles on their faces).  Had a wonderful couple of hours visit and then drove to the quaint little motel in town for the night.
Tuesday we woke up to another beautiful sunny day and went back to the house.  They were both up and ready to take us to the dinner in town for breakfast.
After a ride around showing us the sights, we were back at the house for a while and for dinner we went to a restaurant in town.
We said our goodbyes and headed off for our motel and left early in the morning on Wednesday for home again.

My Mom is doing very well and you should see her get around with that walker of hers.  It is hard to keep up with her!! : ) She gets in and out of the car with ease.  The only trouble is that she is quick as lightening and is up and doing something and NOT using her walker.  We are so afraid that she will fall again.  So she is quite a handful for my Dad. He is so good with her though and does everything around the house too.  So I ask you to please keep them both in your prayers.

We were able to have such good visit and we all enjoyed our time together.  My Mom and I were able to have such good conversations together for which I am truly thankful.  : )

I got to see all the cards and notes that you all sent to my Mom and I want to thank you all again for your thoughtfulness.  : )

Home again yesterday late afternoon and I was happy to see that my sunflower is finally blooming.  It was worth the wait.
Didn't walk for 3 days so it was nice to get back to my morning walk today.
I'm way behind on blog reading but will try to get to visit you all sometime today.
May your day be sunny and bright.
Happyone : )

So glad to hear that you were able to visit with your parents and found your mom doing so well. That is wonderful news! Great photos of all of you. I am sure your visit and stocking of the freezer was most welcome to them both.
How fun to come home to that pretty sunflower.

Karen, I am so glad you had such a good visit with your parents! I know you were a blessing to them, as well as them being a blessing to you. I'm really glad that you and your mom were able to have such good conversations. I know that had to be such an encouragement to you. It is a blessing for me to hear how well she is doing and I'm just so glad how the Lord saw fit to answer prayers on her behalf. Have a great day! Oh...I'm almost up to 2 miles now! :-)

I am so glad that you got to visit, and had a safe trip and some more memories. I know you worry about them, and being so far away makes it all the more difficult.

Nice of your sunflower to welcome you home!

That was a quick trip (and a long drive) but I know it's so good to check in with one's aging parents and see for yourself that they are okay :) I love that. Mine are about 8 hours away, and I don't get up there as often as I should.

I LOVE the look of that little motel!!! Don't know where it is, but if I did I would plan to stay there. I love the old, family-run, small motels. They looks so homey and comfortable. I miss days when that was where most people stayed on trips, and we traveled on highways instead of interstates. Many years ago! Trips took longer too, but they were much more enjoyable. We used to sing songs in the car for hours.

I'm glad to hear that you had a good visit with your Mom. Wonderful too that you had some good conversations with her. I know that seeing your family is a precious gift like no other. Won't stop walking around - I wonder who that sounds like? Seriously it sounds like your Mom is making great progress and it must be a relief to see how well she is doing. Nice to be home too and welcomed by a cheery sunflower.

Wonderful photos of you with your mom and step-dad. The smiles say it all. Have prayed a little prayer for your step-dad and mom. It is a challenge to care for an active gal. Enjoyed seeing your parents' home and yard...so charming and well tended. Have enjoyed my visit and getting caught up a little with you.
