Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.
~Groucho Marx

This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Drane Garden

❀     ❀     ❀     ❀
When I walked this morning it was sunny, with no wind and the temperature was 40 degrees - perfect walking weather.

Didn't see anyone else out walking.  Just me and the birds which were cheerfully chirping away. : )

I just walked the Farm Loop this morning and then went home. I only walked 4.5 miles this morning because I knew I would be walking up to the Drane House and back later in the morning and that would be another 2 miles.

Got a few things done after breakfast including hanging up a load of laundry outside on the line and then walked on up to the Drane House. Sherry who does my hair was telling me that they were having a work day in the garden up at the Drane House and I told her I'd be up to help out in the morning.  It was a beautiful sunny day in the low 60's.  Perfect for working outside.
Lots of work to be done on this garden.
There were five of us working on it and after two hours we were done with one side along the fence.
I left after two hours and so did one other person but other three kept at it and I don't know how much more they got done.  I'll have to walk up there tomorrow morning to check it out.   I came home with a plant of rhubarb and lemon balm for my own garden.  They work on the garden during the summer on Tuesday nights and I join them once in a while to help out again.

When I got back home Ken was back from the train show down in Cumberland with some train friends and they were all downstairs playing trains. : )  I had some lunch and then went outside to do some work in my own yard.  I planted some sunflower seeds in the front by the dining room windows, mowed the lawn and did a little weeding out back.
Finished knitting the pink scarf.
Tonight I'll start another project.  Not sure yet what that will be.

It's been a good day.
Hope your enjoyed your Saturday and you smiled often.

  1. What a full day you had! The Drane Garden is beautiful. Great job on your pink scarf. Don't you love a finished project! Have a great Sunday. Mary Jo

  2. You are able to accomplish more in one day than many people accomplish in a week! Love that pink scarf! Yay for the rhubarb and lemon balm! Yes, it was a good day here, too. A busy one, and that's the best kind.:-)

  3. So nice you were able to help out at The Drane Garden. I love that pink scarf. It is really pretty. Enjoy your Sunday.

  4. I am glad to see you enjoyed the day. Sounds like a nice volunteer project. Well done!

I hope to take long walks at some point, but with this ankle, I am still going "low and slow." So take a walk for me, OK? ;^)

  5. Oh I imagine that you are sleeping well with all this fresh air and work in the garden. What are the gardens for at The Drane House? Are they garden beds for public gardens?

  6. How nice for you and the others to help bring The Drane Gardens back to good shape. I'd love to see what the after looks like.
The pink scarf is so pretty. It reminds me of an Easter egg.

Hello my friend.
