Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Another work day

✿     ✿     ✿     ✿

This morning is was 60 degrees.  It had rained during the night and there was some fog around when I first started walking but after a while there was a mix of sun and clouds with a cool breeze.  Very pleasant for walking.

I walked through town and went toward HT for a bit, then turned around and walked back to town and around the two cemeteries where I saw Kathy walking too.

While walking around the ball park loop I spotted this crawfish on the path.  It is about 2 or 3 inches long.  It just stayed there while I took the picture.  I got just a short distance away from it when a crow swooped down on it, picked at it a bit and then flew away with it.  Guess he found a tasty breakfast.
Walked 5.5 miles.

We spent the day up at Happy Trails working on the cabin.  We got all the floor joists put up and a lot of the bracing.
Here's a couple pictures at the end of the day.
The Back
Looking up at the pretty blue sky with a big cloud blowing across.

There was mix up with the dates and Ken isn't going away with the guys for their get-a-way this week.  It is now next week.

Remember those sunflowers seeds I planted in the front of the dining room windows and they had started to sprout?  Well they are all gone now.  All 8 of them were broken off at the bottom.  I think a bird ate the bottom which still had a bit of the seed from when they sprouted.
There are a few others still left in other parts of the yard and planted some more seeds by the window again.  This time when they sprout I'm going to put chicken wire over them until they grow a bit bigger.

Looking forward to sitting in my chair, having some ice cream and watching some television in just a little while.  Outlander came in the mail from Netflix today so we will watch the first episode of that tonight.  Finished the book not too long ago and thought I'd see what the series is like.

It's been a good day.
Life is Good.
Hope your day was a happy one.

Art - oh yes, we are doing all the work on the cabin ourselves.

Linda - my mom is doing about the same.  She still can't put any weight on her left leg which is broken so she is in the nursing home part right now.  When she can stand on her leg she will then be able to go back to rehab and work on being able to get back home.

Pretty scenes from your walk. And the cabin is making great progress. We use to see sunflower plants with a huge flower disappear. I thought a critter could pull them out of the ground and walk away with it..like a raccoon.. I hope your mom make progress on her recovery. Have a happy day!

Everything looks so lush and green. Lucky you! We really need some rain here.Too bad about your sunflowers. Grackles are notorious for nipping off plants. We lose a number of tulips to them every year.

So sorry about your sunflowers! Sounds like you have the situation under control, though.
You two sure know what you're doing when it comes to building. I'm impressed.
Glad to get an update on your mom. Mary Jo

You and Ken have gotten a LOT done!

I just had to comment - was your crawfish cooked? We had some in the creek/swamp in our back yard and they were dark. Also, your cabin is looking very nice. You are an inspiration to me to stay busy!

Once again it's been awhile since I've visited. It looks like you've gotten a lot accomplished at HT since I last saw it.
I am also glad to read an update on your mom. I wish her broken bone was completely healed, but it's good to know that she hasn't had any more setbacks.

You have a big project! It is fun to see how quickly the two of you pull a building together.

I am impressed that the two of you can do this project. It speaks to your knowledge and skill level. I would not no where to start. I did build a really nice deck once, though! :^)
