Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.

Tuesday

Looking up the flag pole at the car dealer a couple of weeks ago.

51 degrees this morning and cloudy when I headed out the door on my walk.  It had rained during the night and seemed like rain again so I wore my rain pants but it never did rain on me.

First walked over to the post office and mailed off another Netflix and then walked the Farm Loop.  I post pictures of this barn quite often but it is one of my favorite places to walk past.
Once I got back to town I walked around there a bit too to get a full walk in.  This is the loop around the ball park.
Walked the trail behind the ball park too which has a little stream flowing along side the trail.  It's only a short trail of 1/4 mile but it's nice being in the woods a little bit.
Kathy was out walking again and I watched some workers lugging shingles up on a roof.

Lots of birds out again, all busy making nests.  Some sparrows are trying to make one on our front porch by the light.  A Robin did last year and laid 3 eggs and then the eggs disappeared.  Hope the sparrow have better luck.

I walked 6.2 miles.

Late morning we went to Lowe's and then to Walmart and on the way home it started to rain.

I was supposed to be cleaning today but after being out in the morning I just didn't feel like cleaning this afternoon.  So I did a little reading and made a few more weave-it squares.

Ken's cold is on the mend but unfortunately he has passed it on to me.  My colds are usually pretty mild though so I should be better in a day or two.

Last evening my Dad ( my step-dad but I call him Dad  so when I refer to my Dad it will be my step-dad).  My Daddy died back in 1999.  Anyway my Dad called and there was a bed for my Mom in the rehab that is close to their house and she was taken there yesterday.  It will make things a lot easier on him.  Though she is still very weak, she managed to take 5 steps with help and the walker.  Slow progress but at least there is progress.  : )
Today when my Dad went to visit her she wasn't in her room - she was down in the music room listening to some country western singers and was enjoying herself.

My mom loves to get mail and I was thinking how nice it would be for her if she received a lot of cards.  I am asking anyone who wants to if they would send her a note or card just saying they are praying for her or thinking of her mentioning that you are a blogger friend of mine.  If you would like to, email me and I will give you her address.  Thanks. : )

Hope your day has been a happy one and you smiled often.

  1. Count me in. I'd love to send your mom a card! You sure do get a variety on your walks...past farms, through the woods, and around the ball field, down Main Street. It's a regular over the river and through the woods... Feel better soon!

  4. Glad to know that your mom is in a rehab closer to their home so that it will make it easier on your dad. His company and support to your mom will be quite beneficial to her progress. Glad she was out of her room doing something she enjoys. :)

  7. Hi Happyone, I'm taking a few days break from blogging ... stopping by this morning to see what I've missed on Life is Good : ) Really like the pictures on today's post. Nice church photo on Easter too. The flag photo today is a good example of how your photography excells ... people see those things (maybe ... if they look up) but rarely capture them and share them. Thank you for sharing your snaps. If you will send me your mom's address I will try to send her a card. jrcoast @ gmail dot com Have a great day! John

  8. What a wonderful walk you had... Love the pictures... That area through the ball park looks like my type of place to hike. Actually, I thought it was Happy Trails when I first looked at the picture...

We've had alot of rain here lately---but today, it's very very warm and partly cloudy (so far). LOVE it.

    Prayers for your Mom.
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  9. hi Karen!

I'm back!!! But I am over at my OWN blog with a new URL = renae's repertoire {french sounding but not a french blog at all} It is just a variety /broader spectrum that just thrift or cancer stuff. I came back in Feb for about 20 days but still needed a longer break so I've been at 'renae's repertoire' for about a week now. I put a post on Simple Sequins telling others about my switch but not sure if bloggers are even going to it now. So it is sort of like I am starting all over but with some followers here and there. Ya, frustrating. dang! Oh well, I am here to invite you to my more of a 'life-style blog' that just thrift outfits. Come on over to:

I see you are healthy and busy and doing stuff despite the awful winter the east has had. We are in a drought and you guys are in floods. man. So sorry about your Mom. Aging parents is so difficult at times yet rewarding, too. They taught us to care.
    Love to see you!!! ♥renae

  11. What a blessing she will be closer to home. I carried my rain coat around all day Tuesday on errands. The one time I didn't, it sprinkled on me. It was pretty breezy to have the flag unfurled like that. Glad it's getting warmer for your morning walks. Where can I find your email address?
