Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Swallow

I couldn't decided which picture of the swallow to post so here's both of them.

34 degrees this morning with a mixture of sun and clouds and no wind when I headed out on my walk.  The clouds finally took over though and my walked ended cloudy and later on in the afternoon it rained.

I walked around town today including the two cemeteries and the ball park loop.

It is not at all strange to see a tractor driving down the main street in town like you see in the picture. : )

Kathy was out walking this morning and I saw Lisa out running.  A man was out by the town pond fishing too.

The horses were out down by the Drane House but they were busy eating some fresh hay and this time didn't even look up at me.

I walked 5.2 miles.

Yesterday our pastor called and asked if we would be able to pick up a woman who needed a ride to church.  We said sure and left a little earlier than usual to get her.    She is an older woman and lives on a small farm.  It was her first time visiting our church. : )  We picked her up again for the evening service.  She is so very thankful and as a thank you, she gave us a dozen fresh eggs that her hens laid that morning.  I love the colors.  They look like dyed Easter eggs. : )

This morning we drove down to LaVale to the MVA.  It was time for me to renew my license.  What a pleasant visit to the MVA.  No crowds, everyone was friendly and I came out with a new license good for 5 years. : )

We stopped in Ollie's and picked up a few things.  I got a box of 40 Susan Branch assorted cards for just $6.
 We also did our food shopping at Martins.  I am really getting tired of shopping at Walmart and really liked Martin's.  It is a nice bright store with nice wide aisles.  Lots of good sales too.  Turkey Hill ice cream was on sale and we picked up a new supply. This is our new store for food shopping. : )

I still have to do Body Electric and will do that in just a little bit.  I have a couple loaves of bread baking in the oven and will do my exercise once I take the bread out of the oven.

The usual evening at home doing some reading, knitting, watching a bit of television and having my ice cream.

Hope your day has been a happy one.

To find the universal elements enough;
to find the air and the water exhilarating;
to be refreshed by a morning walk or an evening saunter...
to be thrilled by the stars at night;
to be elated over a bird's nest or a wildflower in spring -
These are some of the rewards of the simple life.

Both of your swallow photos turned out great. He/she appears to be resting on top of a nest box. Do you think there are baby swallows in there? Not sure that I've ever seen a swallow around here.
Everything about your egg photo and story made me smile. First and foremost that you and Ken so willingly offer to drive this sweet lady to church and then the way she thanked you with those gorgeous eggs. Yesterday on our way home from a little getaway Brett & I stopped at a farmer's market. One of the farmers had eggs which looked just like yours. He called them rainbow eggs. I wanted to buy them so bad because (believe it or not) I've never tasted a fresh from the farm egg. It really warmed my heart to read your story today.
I'm glad you found a new store for your food shopping. I try to avoid Walmart mostly because I think they take away business from so many of the other stores.

Kindness returned by kindness - a wonderful thing. Those eggs look so good.

Love the photos of the swallows! Enjoy your day.

The swallow pictures are so pretty. Thank you for sharing them both. :)

We have friends who have chickens...the 9 year old has her own and they lay the Easter eggs like your visitor to the church shared with you. We just recently finished up a dozen of them...oh they are so tasty.

I like the second swallow picture. Followed a tractor into town myself today.

Lucky! I hardly ever find Susan Branch when I'm out shopping!

How wonderful of you to give a ride to a visitor to church! There is nothing better than fresh eggs!

It sounds like you've found a new grocery store. I've never done any grocery shopping at WalMart.

I can see why you had a hard time deciding which swallow picture to post. They are both great. The lighting is so different on the shots that they almost don't look like the same bird. You definitely got some neat detail on those shots. I am curious about why you are tired of shopping at Walmart?

Stunning photos of the swallow especially the first one.Our swallows always seem to be flying or hiding in their mud nests. We don't have Walmart here but there do seem to be a lot of stories about how badly they treat their workers.

Hi, We definitely get tired of Walmart shopping also... Our Walmart is a small one --and never are never stocked. There's seldom a time we are looking for specific things --when they are OUT of it... Kroger's is our other grocery store --and we buy their specials and use their coupons. We also have a Food City near us --which is a newer store. BUT--it's so much more expensive --so we've never gone there much... Oh Well--the joys of living in a small town!!!!

Congrats on getting your license so easily.. The last couple of times we renewed ---we were able to do it online. LOVED it.

Both Swallow pictures are great --but the 2nd one is my fav since you can see his gorgeous colors more.

Hugs,
Betsy

I liked both swallow photos, too. It was nice to see them at my daughter's, rarely see them here. Nothing like fresh eggs! That was quite a score on the Susan Branch cards. Ollie's has some great finds sometimes.
