Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Ice cream for supper

The last two days we've spent at the hospital.  My mom's progress with rehab is going very slowly but we have seen a little improvement.  She's not in pain anymore at least.  She still is confused at times and the Alzheimer's has gotten worse since she's been in the hospital.  She should be at the rehab close to where they live by Monday.  Don't know how long she will be there, just taking things a day at a time.

We are leaving to go back home tomorrow.  It's been a long week but so glad that we were able to be here for both of her operations and to leave knowing she is stable and slowly improving.  There were a couple of times there that I thought I was saying good bye to her.  We just have to take it a day at a time and know that God is in control.

My step-dad, Ken and I found a great little ice cream place down the road and we went there this evening and had ice cream sundaes for supper. : )

Well I guess that's about it.  The next time I post I'll be back home.

A happy day to you all.

It is good to know that your mother is improving, though it is a slow process. Ice cream sundaes for supper sounds like a great idea! Safe travels as you return home. Hugs!

Life's short; Eat dessert first! Love the thinking behind that. It is wonderful that you were able to be so supportive both for your mom and for your step-dad. A blessing for you all. I am glad that you will be home celebrating Easter with your home church family. God is good. All the time.

It might only be small steps for your mother but it is all progress :) I'm pleased she is doing so well.
Have a happy Resurrection Sunday.

Perhaps slow progress but she did have two operations, after all, and neither is an easy recovery. Very glad (and reassuring) that you are seeing improvement in your mom. :-)

Ice cream sundaes for supper sounds fun!

May you have a safe journey home.

Glad to hear that your mom is improving. When I worked in a hospital and an old persons' home we would often see a sudden worsening of dementia due to medical ill health which then improved just as dramatically when the antibiotics started working. You may find that this is the case with your mom. I'm sure that simply having you there is a comfort to your mom and your dad.
Have a safe journey and if asked to choose I'd pick a dessert over a main course any day. :)

I'm glad to hear that your mother is doing better, but it must be difficult for you to be so far away from her. Hope you had a afe trip home and have a nice Easter Sunday.

I forgot: The Bible verse you quoted for me was one of a couple I relied on when I had breast cancer many years ago. Today, I will type up that one and a couple of other healing verses for my husband to have when he can read them. I will read them to him tomorrow. Thank you so much for all your support.

Karen, I am so thankful to know that your mom is doing well and making progress. Rehab can be very challenging, but as long as she is making progress (even if it is slow going) it will be good for her. I'm so glad you were able to be there with her and your step-dad through this whole ordeal. Praying the Lord is giving you a safe trip home today (Saturday).

Glad to know you had ice cream for supper! :)

Hugs,
Dianna
