Strange weather we're having. It was a warm 44 degrees and not a breeze to be found this morning when I went for my walk. It was foggy and a light misty rain was falling. A lot of the snow has melted. Still it was nice to be able to get outside again and walk. I walked a few loops around town. Walked up by the one cemetery and then down to the Drane House and on the way back up the hill a big white dirty dog was standing in the middle of the road barking at me. So I backed up and went back down to the Drane House and walked back to the main road on Farmer Marvin's farm road. That is where I took the picture above.
A couple of pictures from different directions of the town pond.
Once in a while I see a man out walking his dog and he was out today. We had a little chat.
Besides the usual crows I saw some sparrows around too. Really haven't seen many birds around at all. Sometimes I miss all the wild life I used to see around the lake where I used to live. Still over all I like walking around here better.
I walked 6.2 miles.

Sunday is my turn for baking cookies for the kids at Sunday School and since this week is Valentine's Day I thought I'd make them heart cookies with icing. This morning I spent in the kitchen making sugar cookies. I made two batches of 2 dozen each which gives me 48 cookies and I need to bring 60 so still have to make another batch. Couldn't today because I ran out of butter. I got the recipe from my blogger friend Karen at Karen's Ramblings. She shared the recipe HERE and they really are the best sugar cookies I've ever had.
Here are the ones I made today.
I haven't iced them yet because I have to buy some meringue powder first, but when I do I'll use Karen's Royal Icing recipe and post a picture. Karen's cookies are little works of art and she has just starting selling them on Esty so if you love cookies and don't have the time to make them you can buy them from Karen HERE. They taste as good as they look too. I know because she once sent me some. : )
It took me a while to clean up the kitchen because I sure do make a mess when I bake!! I can just imagine the mess I'm going to make when I do the icing. : )
I read a while this afternoon and will probably finish my book later this evening.
Saturday evening I knitted the little preemie baby hat for Trish and was able to give it to her Sunday at church.
That's it for today.
Hope you day as been a good one and you smiled often.
happyone : )

There you are! I've been waiting to hear from you...:)
I checked out Karen's etsy shop cookies and they truly are a work of art! Beautiful! I loved seeing your beautiful hearts...they all look so perfect in size and shape. I have trouble with that, even with using a cookie cutter. ;)
I also checked out the little preemie hat you knit...it is adorable!
Have a great evening!
I'm glad you had some more moderate weather so you could walk outside! You've really been busy with those cookies! They look wonderful! It takes awhile to finish them! I'll be thinking about you! I hear the weather is supposed to be changing in a couple of days. Do you expect to have effects from the next storm that is coming?
Glad you could get out and walk... It's been a crazy winter for you, hasn't it? We have had a mild winter overall --with almost NO snow at all... We have had some cold weather --but nothing like we had last year. Now I wonder if we'll have an early Spring.....?????
Bet your Valentine Cookies are/were delicious.... YUM.
Hugs,
Betsy
I love your outdoor pictures and the cookies look delish!
The cookies look fabulous! I am going to have to give that recipe a try. I have a pound of salted butter in the freezer that I bought by mistake. (I generally buy unsalted.)
I like your foggy/misty pictures. :)

It is nice to have the milder weather..The first scene and the pond are lovely images. And your cookies look delicious.. I have to check out the Etsy shop..YUM! Have a happy day!
The kids are going to LOVE your heart cookies. I'm going to check out Karen's recipe as I have a ton of cookie cutters and hope to soon put them to use making cookies for Jaxson. I used to make them a lot when my boys were younger. I used a recipe from the Betty Crocker cookie book back then. Now I'm interested to see how you decorate them with meringue powder. I used to use powdered sugar mixed with water and food coloring.
Those cookies look awesome!
I'll bet those cookies are gone pretty quick!!! :-)
Yummy - sugar cookies!
