Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Open House

Our open house was a success. : )  We had a wonderful time today on this first day of the new year 2015.
The table in the dining room was filled with food as we waited for our guests to arrive.
A chocolate chip cake and chocolate chip cookies, pumpkin bread, Parmesan Crisps, 2 veggie trays and dip.  2 olive trays, cheeses, Parmesan and Red Onion mixture on home made little bread slices, 2 trays of Cucumber and Cream Cheese mixture on crackers, and Dill Pickle Ham Pinwheels.
The olive tray that Ken made up.
We had chips and party mix bowls scattered around the house and in the kitchen there were meatballs in sauce in one crock pot, and BBQ sauce with mini hot dogs in another.  The punch was made of 7Up pineapple juice and sherbet.
We had 34 people here this afternoon and just about all the food was gone by the time the last person left at 5:30.

They loved Ken's trains and couldn't get over the detail and all the work he has put in it.  We decided this open house is to be an annual event and everyone is looking forward to next year to see how much more he gets done.  They liked how he used some of their names on the various buildings and businesses on the layout. : )

We really had a great time.  I was just happy that so many people showed up and enjoyed their time at our home.  : )

Well, back I go to cleaning up.  Will catch up with all of you tomorrow.

Hope you all had a great first day of this brand new year.
happyone : )

I have had you in my thoughts today as I have taken my slow, sweet time in doing anything I've chosen! I would think about how you were having company, and you had worked hard to prepare the food for their pleasure! It looks amazing, and aren't you pleased it all went well?!? I'd help clean up if I were near! You will rest well tonight!
