Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Part one of the PIttsburg trip

Sunset at a mall in Pittsburgh Thursday night.
✼     ✼     ✼     ✼
Here we are at church ready to leave on our trip to Pittsburgh.
Arrived lunch time, had a bite to eat and then spent the rest of the day shopping at the mall.  It wasn't just a shopping day though.  We had a scavenger hunt to do too with fun things we had to accomplish and take a picture of it.  We were divided into three teams and we competed to see who could get the most of them done.  One thing was to have one of us gift wrapped so we went up to the gift wrapping desk and asked if they would gift wrap one of us.  I was chosen to be gift wrapped and this is what they came up with.  They even made me a hat. : )  I got some odd looks.
Getting to the hotel afterwards was a bit of a challenge but eventually we got there I think about 9:30.
Some of us waiting for the elevators and some more loaded down than others.
After the 10 of us got settled in our three rooms we all met in one room for devotions and talking and laughing.  We did a lot of that : )

A couple of pictures outside the hotel window.  Along the river there is a path that runs along it and was where I would have liked to walk.
After breakfast on Friday we headed out to the PPG Place which was only .9 of a mile away and should have been a quick easy ride.  Well, it wasn't so easy with a caravan of three cars with 10 woman in a city that we didn't know.  I was in the second car and we lost sight of car number 1 and got lost.  Doesn't sound possible in such a short distance but we did.  We finally found the place and then we had the problem of finding a parking place.  We circled around and around but couldn't find any place to park, asked a policeman where we could park and his answer - "I don't know."  Meanwhile car number 1 found a parking lot and we tried to find where they were but we never did.  We were just about to TRY to find our way back to the hotel and walk there when we came across a parking lot.  I took this picture in the parking lot and that tall glass building was our destination.
We walked the three blocks and finally after 50 minutes we were inside the building.  Yes, that's right 50 minutes.  We could have walked it in 15 minutes.

We shook that frustration off and enjoyed our time looking at all the gingerbread houses on display.
More about our trip tomorrow.  I think that's enough pictures for one post!!  It's just about bedtime and I'm looking forward to sleeping in my own bed.

Till tomorrow.......
happyone : )

I'm not surprised you're tired after those two days! :-D Looks like it was fun, even with the traffic/parking hassles.

Sounds like a fun trip with the girls.. The gift wrapping is funny..great shot of you! I think walking in a city like this is much better than driving and worrying about parking.. The gingerbread houses are amazing. Great post, enjoy your Sunday!

Hi Happyone, It sure looks like you guys had a lot of fun. Very nice trip! As one who lives in a big city, I do feel sympathy for visitors ... if they don't know all the one-way streets, the back streets, and the parking spots it can be a big pain. This gives me an idea ... Maybe I could start a service being a guide? Ha ha. Have a good day and enjoy being back home. John

Despite getting lost, the trip sounds like loads of fun. You're a good sport to let them decorate you. Beautiful pictures you posted. I recognize some of the faces of the ladies.I think the pastor's wife was in the group, right?
We enjoyed our cantata this morning.

Love to you and Ken.
