Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.
~Groucho Marx

This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Snow pictures and Happy Thanksgiving

I am thankful that there is always enough food to eat.
I never have to worry about where my next meal is coming from.
Sometimes, I could do with a little less food. : )

It was 30 degrees on this Thanksgiving morning and what a beautiful winter wonder land it was out there.  No wind at all, not even a breeze and I was the only one at that time enjoying it.  The sky was cloudy which somehow made it even more beautiful.  A few flurries were floating around.

I wore my hiking boots to keep my feet dry and it was a bit slippery in places, but not enough ice to wear my ice grippers.  Didn't want to wear them out walking on the road.
Everywhere looked so beautiful and I took a lot of pictures.  Here are just some of them and they need no words.

A shorter walk than usual.
Only walked 3.8 miles.

It's just me and Ken today and we aren't even having a turkey, but we shall have a nice holiday being thankful for all our many blessings.

Our Thanksgiving meal will be meatloaf, mashed potatoes, applesauce, beets and pumpkin pie and pumpkin bread.

Enjoy your day.
Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate the holiday.

In every thing give thanks:
for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus
concerning you.

  1. Well... You could shape the meatloaf like a Turkey.
    Happy Thanksgiving dear!!

  2. Hi Karen - so glad you posted today. Just Charly and I here for Thanksgiving this year and we aren't having a turkey either. We are having a delicious turkey casserole that Charly makes with an old recipe his mom gave him. Looking forward to a quiet, relaxing day. We will enjoy pie with friends later tonight. I love the snow pictures - truly a winter wonderland. Thanks so much for posting today - I was feeling a bit down about being here alone without any children or family nearby but reading about your Thanksgiving really cheered me up -if Karen and Ken are enjoying a "just the two of us" Thanksgiving" then Charly and I are in good company and this is going to be great day! See Karen - you really are a blessing to me! I know that it was God that helped me find your blog! Have a wonderful day and enjoy that snowy wonderland. It is beautiful!

  3. Happy Thanksgiving!! What lovely snow pics!!!

  4. Lovely snowy scenes from your part of Maryland! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

  5. That's just the kind of winter day I like. Have a Happy Thanksgiving. Your entire blog makes me always think of being thankful.

  6. Happy Thanksgiving. These snow scenes are gorgeous. I am so ready to have a good layer of snow.

  7. Such lovely, snowy scenery!

It was just the two of us today, as well, and we had a boneless turkey breast. Since it was our first T-day without family since being back in the Midwest, we departed from tradition and tried a few new recipes. :)

  8. Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Love all of your winter wonderland pictures.... so pretty.

    Sending warm wishes....

  9. Hi Happyone, A shorter walk on Thursday but you still got several great pictures for us. Thank you! Your photos along the walks are just wonderful. I enjoyed reading about your experience at Church when you gave your testimony. God was with you for sure. Thank you for sharing that story with us. Wishing you a fine weekend ahead! John

  10. You definitely had a winter wonderland to enjoy on Thanksgiving Day. I hope the rest of your day was as wonderful as the morning was beautiful.

  11. Beautiful winter pictures. 11C here today so relatively warm. Your Thanksgiving dinner sounds just right (I'm not keen on turkey). Keep warm and safe.

  12. Wow! What a difference a few days make. Enjoy your winter wonderland. Hopefully, we are getting a bit of rain this weekend.

  13. Pretty, pretty pictures of your winter wonderland.
Your thanksgiving menu sounds just perfect. I hope you had a great day!
I second your thankfulness on plenty of food to eat. I recently read an article telling how there are now more children in the US going hungry than ever before. It breaks my heart to think of and also makes me very thankful when I open my fridge and pantry.

  14. I'm glad that you two enjoyed Thanksgiving together, Karen. Whether just two or all kinds of family and friends, the key thing is to enjoy the day and give thanks. My brother and sister-in-law couldn't make it because of the storm, but we still had a good day, while missing their company.

You live in a winter wonderland.

Hello my friend.
Thanks for stopping by.
I'm hoping you will leave a comment.
Thanks. : )
