Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself;
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.
I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.
~Groucho Marx

This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Picture of the Day
❤     ❤     ❤     ❤
This morning it was 52 degrees and finally no fog around.  A beautiful morning with lots of sunshine.

I walked the Town Route that I mapped out yesterday.  Meet cow number 2512 who lives on the farm owned by Farmer Marvin.  His farm covers a lot of acres in and around town.
A garden down by the Drane House that a few local woman volunteer to work on.  I'm thinking it is something I could help with but never seem to get around to doing.  That's the Drane House behind the garden.
I heard woodpecker first and then saw him getting his breakfast out of a dying tree along the road.
Saw a woman up ahead of me walking but she turned off before I caught up to her.  George, a man I see often around town stopped to talk for a bit.
We were talking about how small our town is but how it has so much packed into it.
  • Dollar General
  • Dentist and Doctor
  • Antique Store
  • 2 Restaurants
  • Car Dealer
  • Library
  • Post office
  • Park and ball field
  • 2 hair salons
  • Lumber yard
  • Hardware store
  • Gas Station
  • Cheese and wine store
That's quite a lot for a town with just over 300 people in it!!

This morning I walked my usual 6.2 miles.

I did a little reorganization in a few of the kitchen cabinets and I now have one whole shelf with nothing on it!!

It is strange this year how the leaves are turning colors.  On some trees the leaves have turned and the leaves have fallen off already.  Some trees are just starting and still others are still all green.  Then some trees have colored leaves in parts of the tree and green in other.

Puttered around outside this afternoon.  A nice sunny day but windy.

Time to go and get supper started.  Roast potatoes, chicken and green beans.
A happy day to you.

Nellie - That's right, each soybean pod contains just 3 little beans.

  1. I think katydids are so interesting. They camouflage so well with the leaves.
I didn't realize your town was that small. It does seem to have covered the bases for goods and services.
Your supper sounds good. I have no idea what we'll be having. I suppose I should start giving it some thought.
Empty shelf space in the kitchen makes me smile. I seem to have problems keeping mine empty for long.

  2. I didn't know that about soybeans! Learning something new.:-)

The town garden looks very good. You may get around to helping one of these days. I think you have a lot going on with what you are doing anyway.

I've not seen a katydid up close in quite sometime. In fact, I don't even think I've heard one this season. I'm sure they are singing, though. I'm just not outside while they are making their noise.

    Enjoy your Friday evening!

  3. It is slowing turning colors here but, I do see leaves falling.. Another great walk, love the cow! Enjoy your evening and the weekend!

  4. I like the katydid. On my backpacking trip last month, they were almost deafening after dark for most of the night.

Your town sounds great with a thriving business community. The garden project sounds great but your days are already so full. Enjoy your dinner - yummy! And have a great weekend. Art

  5. Maybe I should get you to come organize my cupboards.I know I have too much, but have trouble letting go of stuff.Your town sounds like a great place to live.

  6. I noticed too, some of the trees are turning early. It will be interesting to see what this fall brings. Love your bug.

  7. Nice shot of the Katydid. I so enjoy hearing about your walks about town. I found it funny that you have a Wine and Cheese shop in such a small town.
