Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A happy sunflower

Picture of the Day
This sunflower grew under the mailbox all on it's own.
I never planted a seed.
I like to think that each time the letter carrier delivers the mail
it makes her smile. : )

I think this morning was the warmest one all summer.  It was 70 degrees with an on and off misty rain.  I got a late start and left a little after 7:00 and had a random walk all over town.  Started out dry and just as I was getting hot it started to drizzle. Then stopped, I dried off a bit, got warm, then more drizzle to cool me off.  Did that all during my walk. Felt like God saw me getting hot and then sprinkled some water on me to keep me cool. : )

These two bunnies live where Lone Chicken used to live.

It was very quiet this morning around town because of the holiday.  Seemed like early on a Sunday morning.  Didn't see anyone else out and only a few vehicles.  Farmer Marvin was in one of the trucks.

It was nice walking in the mist.
I walked 6.2 miles.
Coins for the month of August were 2 dimes and 5 pennies for a grand total of 25 cents.  Not that great but not as low as other months.

Today was errand day and we spent the day going in and out of stores.  It's been one of those days when the weather can't make up its mind.  Rain, cloudy or sun.

Bettye is doing very well and comes home from the hospital today.  Again thank you all for your prayers.  The ladies from church will be taking her meals for next week or two.  I'll be taking her a meal on Wednesday.

The rest of the day will be a restful one at home.  I hope to get some reading done.  Don't have to cook because I've taken chili out of the freezer that I made a while ago.
I might just go for another walk too - just a short one.

Hope your Monday is a happy one.
happyone : )

Three Thankful Things Today
  1. On an off rain showers to keep me cool on my walk
  2. Chili that I don't have to cook for supper
  3. Time at home to read

Deb - I told Pastor Leatherman and he was delighted that you have made his 5 goals part of your day too. : )

Happy Labor Day... Hope you are having a great day. We finally got some rain here this weekend (which we needed)--but this week promises to be a hot one... I'm SO ready for Fall...

That Chili sounds good... I can't wait to get some cooler weather so that we'll have Chili --or maybe Pinto Beans and Cornbread.... YUM.

Hugs,
Betsy

I'm happy I am able to visit and comment on your blog!

I'm curious about the plan for the rabbits. I remember visiting neighbors of my grandmother to watch their rabbits when I was a child.

It sounds like you have had a good day, although the weather conditions are undecided. Congratulations on finding some coins during August!

What a happy little sunflower, indeed.

Chili sounds good. It's what we had for lunch too, and it had been eons since we last had it. It was a fitting meal to the first day of September :)

smiles :)

Hi there. That sunflower is great! It's been hot here as well, but summer is coming to an end for another year soon enough. Enjoy your day. Art

I love the sunflower. If I were your letter carrier, it would make me smile : ) I also love how God sent the shower to cool you off while you were walking. Have a great day and see you tomorrow!

Sounds like a perfect day. I had a volunteer sunflower last year, it certainly made me smile. We used to have a black & white bunny like the one in your photo.

It was cool here this morning and overcast but alas no rain fell. I love your sweet sunflower, I'm sure the mail carrier does smile when she sees it,

What a wonderful 'surprise' to have come up under your mailbox! That would definitely make my day! :)
Glad to hear Bettye is being released from the hospital. That's so nice when folks pitch in to bring meals to those who need it. :)
