Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

A break in my routine

Picture of the Day

After my walk on Saturday I went to church and was there pretty much all day helping out with the Girls Conference that was held there.  Other churches in the area were invited too and over 60 girls participated.  It was a great time and the first of an annual event.
I was at the chocolate table - lucky me! : )  Remember all that fudge I made?  It didn't last long.  And no I didn't eat it all. : )
One of the ladies made cupcakes for dessert that looked like high heels and they were a big hit.  I think she made 75 of them.

Sunday morning it was only 38 degrees in the morning when I walked.  It warmed up to be in the 60's during the day.

Today my routine was a bit different than usual.  I woke up my usual time but was so comfortable in my nice warm bed that I just didn't feel like getting up yet so stayed there until 7:30.  It was a bit warmer than yesterday morning and was 42 degrees.

I made us pancakes for breakfast and then later in the morning I went up to Happy Trails with Ken.  Stayed for just a little while and then walked home which is 3 miles.  On the way down the mountain I spotted 2 young male deer and was able to get their picture.
Also on the way home I saw 4 more deer and two groundhogs.
Once home I hung up a load of laundry out on the line, took a layer of clothes off and then went for the rest of my walk around town and walked an additional 3.4 miles.  The temperature by then was 70 degrees.

Walking around town I saw two blue birds up by one of the cemeteries and another groundhog.

Though I enjoyed my walk it still wasn't the same as a morning walk.  Something about early morning makes my walk special.  I'll be out there walking early tomorrow morning once again. (God willing)

I walked a total of 6.4 miles.
Also found a penny which is the first coin this month!!  I thought of you Keith and remembered to look which way the penny was facing - tails up.

It was lunch time by the time I got done walking and ate left over homemade pizza from yesterday for lunch sitting out on the front porch.

Then it was time to mow the lawn.  That done, I did a little weeding and before long Ken was home with another load of stone.

Hope your day is a good one too and that you smiled often.

Yesterday ended last night.
Today is brand-new day.

What a rewarding week-end you have had! Those high heel cupcakes are special! I'd say they were definitely a huge hit!:-) Zig Ziglar has some really motivating words. My husband has been to events when Zig was the keynote speaker. I applaud you for your daily walking!

Those were pretty neat cupcakes, but I'll bet your fudge was delicious as well. I think it's good to have a change in our usual routines every once in a while.

I love that cute cupcake! I'm sure the girls just "ate them up." So nice you could help out with the girl's conference. Hope your week is going well.

That sounds like a nice day for the girls. So good of you to help make it a success. I'll bet the chocolate table was a popular spot. The cupcakes are adorable. Someone put a lot of love into them.
Great shot of the deer on your walk. You see the neatest things on your walks. I tend to be more of an after dinner walker. Last night we were walking in the dark.

Change in routine is sometimes fun. - Nice shot of the farmer in the field.
I loved the shot of the two male deer. That was worth doing a different walking time in my opinion.
That cupcake was quite something wasn't it.
I love looking for coins when I go for walks.
