Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Pumpkins

The sun this morning behind a thin cloud.  Looks like the moon.

We had a nice time walking around the fair Saturday afternoon and evening.  I always like looking at all the animals.  There was a lamb auction and we were so surprised that you can buy a lamb for only 3 or 4 dollars.  I felt like buying a few of them.  : )
There were also rides, booths selling stuff,  and lots of good food to eat.
In the evening we watched the demolition derby.  Boy the people in the cars sure get knocked around a lot!!

Saturday I hit a new personal record on my Striiv for steps in a day.  I took a shot of my computer screen.  You can see 26,046 is my new record.

A morning with sun and clouds and a temperature of 58 degrees today.  I walked the Farm Loop and around town.

It was pretty quiet all during my walk.  Didn't see any one else walking.

I pass a dairy farm on the loop and I always feel bad for the cows there because they are all kept in a huge barn.  (I'm told on a dairy farm they are called cows and steer or cattle when they are raised for beef) I hear mooing coming from the barn but never see them.  Today I was happy to see about a dozen of the cows out in the field.  I stopped to talk to them and took their picture.  This is the first time I've ever seen any cows here.
This road heads back into town.  There is quite a deep gully along the side of the road here.  You can't tell by the picture but it is about 3 feet deep.
I always see rabbits and today I saw a little one.  Didn't look big enough to be out on its own but he sure ran away fast when he saw me. : )

I walked 6.2 miles.
Didn't find any coins today but I did find a one dollar bill.

Ken's pumpkin patch is coming along slowly but nicely.
There are a few pumpkins started and this one is the largest one.
Ken put in the electric by the patio for the water feature today.  He is planning a little water fall and it needs a pump.

I've been doing a little cleaning around the house and puttering about outside a bit.  In the afternoon I painted a couple of flower pots and an old table I got at an auction.  The table I got at the auction, the flower pots I've had quite a long time.

Ken is making supper tonight and in fact is making it right now.  He's making a stir fry.

Hope your day is happy and bright.

Three Thankful Things Today
  1.  There are actually pumpkins growing in the pumpkin patch
  2.  The cows are out of the barn and enjoying a nice sunny day
  3.  Ken is making dinner

Congratulations on all those steps! That is quite a record! I would be tempted to come home with a lamb or two.:-) Of course, they would then need some kind of care once they were home with me.:-)

Nice job, on walking so many steps!

Yay! Pumpkins growing in the garden !
Is your growing season pretty long there? We have a short growing season here.

What a sweet husband; making dinner for you......enjoy :)

Congratulations on all those steps. Very impressive! My son gave my husband a FitBit for Father's Day and we have yet to take the time to figure it out :/.
A dollar bill... woo hoo!! that is an exciting find.
I have learned a lot about farming here today. I had no idea about lambs being so inexpensive. I can see how that would be tempting as they are so adorable.
The pumpkins are looking good. Can't wait to see how they turn out for the fall season.

I admire all the walking you do. Such a beautiful area! Where in the world do you live where it's 58 degrees in the summer? We live 8 blocks off the shores of Lake Michigan in the upper part and we probably reached 70's today but then it got much cooler and breezier later in the day, LOVED it!! What do you plan to do with your pumpkins? eat? decorate? sell?

You set quite the example with all your walking (and everything else you do!) :-)
Glad the cows got to stretch their legs in the field this morning. I would want a couple of those lambs, too. I never would have thought they would go for such a low price. Your flower pots and table turned out really nice! Did you make that pretty quilt that is on your guest bed?

And you found a dollar! That's unheard of. = D

If the pumpkin patch gets going, you'll have an amazing supply! I don't like it that cows don't get to go out s dairy farms anymore either, but am told that they don't mind and that they produce better and are more healthy. Go figure. I do remember when the flavor of milk used to change in the spring when the cows went out into the fields and again in late fall when they went back to the barn.

I love your new little pumpkins! Congratulations on your Striiv Personal Best! Sounds like the fair was a lot of fun. Enjoy the week ahead!

Over here the cows are outside all year as far as I know. I hadn't thought about them being inside barns at all. I think they only go in for milking, I'll have to investigate and find out lol.

That is surely a lot of steps! Somewhat tired legs after that much walking, I would guess.

You live in a pretty area.

Baby rabbits don't get much time with mom. They get weaned and essentially are out on their own. I guess the philosophy is if something happens to these kids, I'll just make more!
