Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Good Fences

My Good Fences #5

✼     ✼     ✼     ✼
Another great morning for taking a walk.  A few degrees warmer today at 52 degrees.  There was a little fog around at first but it quickly gave way to all sunshine with just a few clouds.
I had a random walk all around town.  I'm walking up to one of the cemeteries here and you can see Peggy and her dog Saxon walking ahead of me up there.  You might have to enlarge the picture to see them.
I saw a deer up at the other cemetery in town.
I walk past this pretty tree with lots of orange berries on it every morning. I think it is a mountain ash and it is in one of my neighbors front yard.
A close up of the berries.
A couple farmers rode through town, one on a tractor, the other on a huge piece of farm machinery that I have no idea what it is called.  Both of them waved to me.  They looked familiar but I don't know them.

I happened to walk past the dentist office just as Dr Allen was arriving and we stopped for a little chat.  She mentioned how pretty the daisies in the yard looked and I told her to feel free to come a cut some for the office any time.
Walked home from there which is only a block away.

I walked 6.3 miles and on this last day of July I found a dime.
The total coins for the month of July is 47 cents.
A quarter, two dimes and two pennies.

I had enough of puttering around the house the last few days so this morning I went up to Happy Trails with Ken and got another load of stone and dirt.  I helped some but also walked around on the trails too.  So peaceful and quiet up there and so pretty.
After bringing the one load home, I stayed home and Ken went back for another one.

I cut some daisies, put them in a mason jar and walked over to the dentist office to give them to Dr Allen.  Even though I said she could come and cut some I figured she probably really wouldn't.  She was very thankful as was everyone else in the office.
I was surprised to see Michele and her 6 year old son sitting in the waiting room of the dentist.  She is the former owner of our house.  Her and her husband moved to New Mexico last year when they sold the house to us.  Missed it living in this area so have just moved back a couple of weeks ago!!  They now live in the next town over.  She asked if she could stop over the house and see all what we've done to it in the last year and I said sure.  She said they'd be over when they left the dentist and sure enough her and Shane came over and I gave them a tour of her old house.  Michele said she liked all what we've done and was so glad that I loved the house as much as she did.

Seems like we haven't been out to eat for a while so we are going out for pizza this evening.  Not Brenda's this time but to Mountain State Brewing Company.  They make brick oven pizza.

Hope your day is a happy one and that

Betsy - Yes, I do like Queen Anne's Lace.  It is so pretty and really does look like lace.  I guess you know that they are wild carrots. : )

You are very thoughtful anticipating another's reserve to a genuine offer. Not many would do that. And, you may not believe this, but what Michele did was quite extraordinary. I have never known of anyone who wanted to return to their former home to look around. (I'd return from NM, too. Nice place to visit...) That mountain ash tree is so pretty! Do the birds eat those berries?

I chose to read your post in the Good Fences meme because I love its title :) It was every bit as much fun to read (in fact, more) as I hoped. Beautiful photographs and following you throughout your day was so simple but so inspiring. I will carry your "happy" vibes with me.

Pretty captures! How neat that the old owners moved back to the area.

I like the fence you shared with us, and the morning light you captured in the photo of the road you were walking is glorious. It was nice of you share your daisies with the dentist.

Looks like a mountain ash to me as well. We've had a nice run of weather lately, but I've been at work and it is harder to enjoy. I have tomorrow off, though, and look forward to that.

You have a wonderful home, and it neat that the former owners got to see what you have done with it. You both sound very happy with your move to western MD. I hope the pizza was delicious. Art

Nice post and lovely pictures. Sure glad I am not having to paint that fence! Had enough of that earlier in life.

Hi Thanks for taking us along on your walk. I loved every step of our journey.Loved the Rowan berries and the Daisies and glad we didn't have to go to the Dentist! i am sure your Daisies look lovely in their office. In the first shot, I can imagine sitting in that beautiful little summer house and looking out at the lake and seeing if there are any birds.

That mountain ash tree is so pretty. It's been years since I've seen one as I don't think they grow here.
The whole story of you taking the daisies to the dentist and meeting the former owner of your house there just made me smile. In these times of so much uncertainty around the world, it is heartwarming to see neighbors being kind to one another.

Your daisies are quite pretty, and it is kind of you to share their beauty.

How fun to have the former owners of your house come for a tour. Glad they liked what you have done.
I have only been to one of our former houses, and while I didn't exactly regret it, I thought that it was a bad idea, and I would never do it again. Everything had changes so much, and it felt like we had never been there.... it was strange.

How much more material does Ken need for the patio? Is he getting close to having enough materials now?
It's going to be fabulous when it's done!!

Have a terrific weekend.

Hi, I love daisies also ---and love that quote about them being like sunshine to the ground... SO true!!!! Since falling in love with photography, I notice so many things that I never paid much attention to before...

Happy August.

What beautiful landscapes! Interesting the previous homeowners moved back. I'm glad they were pleased with how you've made the house your own.

Very pretty fence scene and gazebo! Reminds me of the place where our cousin's son got married last year. The mountain ash tree is gorgeous, loaded with all those berries! That was very thoughtful of you to take some of your daises to the dentist's office. How ironic that you would cross paths with the former owners of your house. It's too bad New Mexico didn't work out for them. That's A LOT of moving in a very short time. I'm glad she liked what you and Ken had done to the house.
