Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Wednesday

I was up and out of the house at 6:45 walking around town.  It was 40 degrees and windy and DARK.  By 7:15 it was getting light out but it stayed cloudy though I did see a quick peek of blue sky before I got home.

I got to walk around both cemeteries now that most of the snow is gone.  Walked around the loop by the ball park too where there is just a little snow left.  The third tree down has three holes in it made I guess by a woodpecker?  The holes are pretty big and deep.   You will have probably have to make the picture bigger to see them.
I took a closer picture of the holes.
I stayed around town because rain was expected any time and I didn't want to be too far away if it started.  I like the brick sidewalk along here and it is the only one in town.
Saw a couple of geese again, this time by the town pond.  Lots of birds around singing.  Guess they too are happy that is it almost spring.
Didn't see any people out walking or running.
When I got home the temperature was 50 degrees.
I walked 6 miles.

Rain started mid morning and continued all day and got very windy.  A quick drop in the temperature should be happening any time now and the rain is supposed to turn to snow.

I've been cleaning the kitchen today - giving it a good spring cleaning.  Still not done but I got a good start.
Took breaks very so often to work on the current puzzle.  I probably should have spent more time working in the kitchen than on the puzzle. : )

I'm looking for hymns that have the word 'season' in them.  Do you know of any?

Ken made sausages and pepper and onions for supper this morning.  But they smelled so good we ate them for lunch instead.  So now we will have a lunch for supper.

I'll be going to my book club later which starts at 5:30.

Hope your day has been a happy one.

bend and do not complain.

Today's Three Happy Things
  1. I got a morning walk in before the rain came
  2. Eating Ken's sausage and peppers and onions for lunch
  3. Finally figuring out how to download the pictures from my camera on to my computer without taking out the chip. That made me very happy. : )

I've never heard of this one - but here is a link to a hymn with the word "season" - it's actually very beautiful reading it: http://www.hymntime.com/tch/htm/h/y/m/hymnprom.htm

This one of course is very popular: http://www.hymnpod.com/2010/01/26/to-everything-there-is-a-season/

Hope that helps a bit :) You may have these already.

I am so glad you are keeping up with your senior friend. I know first hand how important that occasional social contact is for them. And cookies are like icing on the cake with the visit. I pass a French bakery on my way out to see mom and bring her cookies from there. She loves the ones with sprinkles. Puts a big smile on her face when I bring them.

I think you were wise to take a few puzzle breaks while cleaning the kitchen. Makes the job at hand more fun. I need to tackle my kitchen drawers. They all seem too full when I go to close them.
Hope you enjoyed your book club meeting.

I always have to stop for short breaks when i am cleaning.

I bet that Harry was delighted with your chocolate chipper cookies. You are such a caring person. Bless you!

"Hymn of Promise" would be a good one for your hymns with the word season.

Wasn't it good to be able to walk your six miles outside? More snow on the way? We have a trace here and there this morning, nothing major.

"Some through the waters, some through the flood,
Some through the fire, but all through the blood;
Some through great sorrow, but God gives a song,
In the night season and all the day long."

The only thing that popped in to my mind..."God Leads Us Along."

Did you get much snow? We did get lots of wind and cold, but not as much snow as predicted because it came down as sleet. This must end some fine day. It's just a matter of time.

Happy cleaning!

Hi There, We are home from George's fabulous birthday trip. I will blog about it tomorrow. It was truly a trip we will be talking about for a VERY long time!!!!

I thought of you this week--and wondered how you learned to walk on ICE... I fell this week --and twisted my knee. NOT FUN...

Glad most of your snow is gone.... Luckily, we didn't get anymore last night (like they said we might).
Hugs,
Betsy

Yep, those look made by a pileated woodpecker.

So nice of you to take cookies to your friend. He is lucky.
