Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Walking and reading

I was surprised to wake up this morning and find it not raining since that was the forecast.  It was 30 and once the sun rose it stayed out.  It was windy but a beautiful morning for walking.

I walked around town and up Barn Sale Road to see if Charlie the steer was out.  Sure enough he was and all the others were in the field too.  When I first walked past, this one climbing up the big pile of dirt made me smile.
The others all looked up as I said good morning to them as I passed by walking up the hill.  A little later as I was coming down the hill on the way back they slowly all started walking toward the fence.  As I got in front of the fence the all started running over to me.
I stopped to talk to them as they all nudged there way to the front of the fence.  There is Charlie right in the middle.  I noticed all the others just have number tags on their ears.  I didn't get up close to the fence because I would have had to jump over the ditch and I thought I would scare them.
Also in the field with the steer were at least 30 robins.  I took a picture but they didn't show up very good.  It was something to see so many of them together.
Finally I moved on and walked around town and around the two cemeteries.

As I was getting home the letter carrier was just driving up my driveway in her jeep to deliver a package. We talked for a bit.  She's really nice. : )  If your curious about the package it was for Ken.  It was some train supplies for his layout.

I walked 6 miles.

I don't know if you noticed or not but I deleted the Page about the Bible Challenge from my blog.  I'm sorry to say I've given up on learning 100 verses this year.  My memory is not what it used to be and I was not able to do it.  I was getting stressed over it and was forgetting the verses a week after I learned them.  So I'm back to just memorizing the monthly church one.

I had stuff planned to do today but started reading which I should not have done because once I started I kept on reading for far too long.

Hope your day has been a happy one.

Today's Three Happy Things
  1. Expecting morning rain and finding it sunny
  2. My steer friends coming to greet me
  3. Finding a cherry tootsie pop for me in the basket

Always nice when you're surprised with a sunny day!
I understand about memorizing scripture. I wish I could do better but just can't do it. I can remember the ones from childhood though so that helps.

I can't remember what I did 5 minutes ago. I do much better on the memories from the past.

I am glad that you had sunshine today for your walk.

Oh I love that quote! So true. Good. I am glad that you let the memorization go. I have always found that learning scripture songs works best for me. I seem to learn them easily and remember them. But just saying verses doesn't work for my tired head either. So there's a pair of us. Now you're the cattle whisperer! Too much fun!

lol - that quote surely is a true on ;-) I love all the pictures of your Bovine friends. I totally understand about the 100 bibles verses. I think that the only reason to get stressed out about bible verses, is if we aren't doing what they say to do! Have a good day and I will see you tomorrow!

I love the Ann Landers quote! All too true.:)

That's funny about the steers! They must have thought you had some kind of treat to give them.:)

The same thing happens to me when I begin to read. I never know when to stop.:)

We have had a windy day, and clouds covered the sun very early this morning. There is supposed to be a slight chance of showers tonight!

Cattle are pretty funny!
There is no sense doing a challenge that stresses you out. My memory would not be up to it, either. Art
