Walking is the perfect way of moving if you want to see into the life of things. It is the one way of freedom. If you go to a place on anything but your own feet you are taken there too fast, and miss a thousand delicate joys that were waiting for you by the wayside. Elizabeth von Arnim

Happy Trails

It was 15 degrees this morning but there was no wind and no snow so I layered up and went out for my walk.  Headed on over to the post office first and dropped off a Netflix in the slot and then walked the farm loop in the opposite direction than I normally do.  It was so very quiet and all I heard was my shoes on the gravel as I walked along the side of the road.  I stopped to listen to the quiet and then heard some crows talking and a tractor off in the distance.

After walking the loop I made a pit stop at home. The temperature had gone up to 22 degrees and I was getting warm so I took my outer layer off and left again with a book to drop in the library slot and then continued my walk up the street to the cemetery on the edge of town.  Walked around the little town pond.  I saw mallard ducks, a red winged black bird, and the two killdeer again. They all took off as I approached the pond.
Again I saw so many robins, my town must be the robin capital of the country.
Didn't see any people out.
It was really nice being outside this morning.  I always feel so good after my morning walk.
I walked 6.5 miles.

I forgot to mention yesterday that the book Life After Life I read was a book club selection for the month of May.  I am curious to hear what the others have to say about.  I went to the library today to pick up the book for the April book club selection.  Somehow I got the two months out of order.  April's book is Still Life With Bread Crumbs.

After lunch the temperature was 50 degrees and we decided to go up to Happy Trails and walk around.  All the snow is gone now and we are planning on making more trails.  Today we walked around figuring out where to put the next trail.  We used a yellow nylon rope to mark where we will make the next trail.   It is kind of hard to see in the picture.
A trail we walked along.
We should put up a sign here that reads
Deer Crossing.
It was nice to be able to walk around on Happy Trails.

I enjoyed those Welsh cookies yesterday and plan to have some again tonight.

Hope your day has been a happy one.

Three Happy Things Today
  1. My morning walk
  2. Time at Happy Trails
  3. A spring day

Vee -  Welsh cookies are more like scones I think.  They remind me of little pancakes.

At least the snow there goes quickly now! We are expecting more this weekend.

Your book club reads the most interesting selections.

Oh, I almost asked you to send me a robin, but the poor little thing would freeze his giblets off.

Hooray for your snow being all gone. It has rained here all day and the grass is beginning to get some green in it.

What a change in weather from the previous day! :-) Glad you were finally able to walk around outside, and especially up at Happy Trails. Too bad we don't live closer - I know my hubby would enjoy helping carve out those new trails. :-)

Isn't it wonderful when Spring gets here? So glad you all can walk around Happy Trails now without so much snow/ice.

Have a great weekend.
